Hong Kong Disneyland (HKDL)
Magical Coin Machine News
Hong Kong Disneyland Pressed Penny Magical Coins are one of the most challenging Disney "pressed penny" sets to collect here in the USA. Distance to the resort, language... What we have discovered via our Disneyana Jones detective work and the most welcome help of fellow collectors, is offered here on this news page and in the ParkPennies Hong Kong Disneyland Pressed Penny Guides. We hope the information we have to share here which covers all HKDL pressed pennies issued from the very first Magical Coin in 2005 to the present is of use in collecting and in enjoying these fun Disney collectibles. -For unfiltered news covering all the Disneyland Resort penny press machine news from around the word and more gossip :-) the ParkPennies "Pressed Pennies" The Elongated Coins of Disneyland home page is a good read. Please contact us whenever you have a question, news to share, or a comment about HKDL Pressed Pennies. Happy Collecting, Boomer
Tip: Our thanks to fellow collector Wan Lin Yeo in Hong Kong: The Octopus Card is now accepted by all HKDL penny press machines.
Purchasing / loading an Octopus Card before you visit the resort is a great way to avoid the stress of locating enough change for the many HKDL penny presses. Share your Hong Kong Disneyland news here
Tip: Our thanks to Nathan P. and his daughter who shared an excellent report on HKDL pressed coin machines and locations. It includes images of the machine marquees and some great tips as well. Nathan writes in part: "Last week, I did a business trip that ended in Hong Kong, and I opted to visit the park and attempt to collect one of each pressed coin blank. Here's what I found. Feel free to use the pictures on the site to help others find these pressed coins. Interestingly, most of the machines are unused for the most part, and many sounded empty when you deposit the HK$5 coins to pay for them, except for the Ironman Experience one. I suspect that this is partially due to Tony Stark threatening one of the robots in the show with being turned into a coin press machine." Nathan also mentions "The biggest reason that the machines sounded empty is probably because they take HK Octopus cards, as well as coins." (Nathan suggests that collectors obtain an Octopus Card for use with the HKDL coin press machines.) "Each pressed coin costs HK$15 (approximately US$1.92). Pretty steep! The coin album was the only one on offer, and it was HK$125 (or about US$16)." Nathan also noted that the Iron Man Experience and the machine inside Professor Porter's were the most popular. Happy collecting, Boomer.
9/09/2020 Our thanks to the very helpful dad and daughter team of Hong Kong pressed coin collectors, Alex and Abigail L., for sharing with us their excellent detective work. This week they submitted some very well researched evidence representing detective work spanning more than a year. The information included statements and recollections of collectors that had pressed the three subject coins, noted purchases of the coin set by casual collectors, even an example of the three coins placed as a set in coin book of the time. With this work they have solved a longtime Hong Kong Disneyland pressed coin puzzle. As advanced HKDL pressed souvenir collectors will remember, there was a lone HKDL1325 coin reported by the well known USA collector, Jason N., back in 2015. At the time, we didn't know exactly when the coin was onstage. So, it was listed as our only "provisional" HKDL listing, the HKDL1325 and entered it in the HKDL Guide accordingly. There was also an "orphan" listing of a lone, the HDKL1016, dating from back in 2010 that we could not match with any other coins reported at the time to complete what we thought should have been an original machine set of three. Alex and Abigail's detective work linked the HKDL1016 and HDKL1325, with a third coin, featuring the image of Conductor Mickey in a Train (previously thought to have never been onstage), to reunite the HKDL1016, HKDL1017 and HKDL1018 2010 set! Happy collecting, Boomer and the folks at ParkPennies. [Edited 9/16/2020 to remove some of the poor grammar. :-)]
--------Hong Kong Disneyland CLOSED on January 26, 2020, reopened on June 18, 2020 and closed again on July 15, 2020. As of 8/20/2020 the park is still closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. --------
10/2/17 Our thanks to Dee D. for asking about the Hong Kong Toy Festival pressed coin set. We've added a Hong Kong Off-Site Disney Pressed Coin Guide page for this set of coins and any future Disney copyrighted coins that are offered in China outside of the Hong Kong or Shanghai Disneyland Resort properties. This is in keeping with the ParkPennies Disneyland USA Off Site Pressed Coins guide. Happy collecting! Boomer. PS Thank you for those Facebook Likes and sharing ParkPennies.com with your friends. :-)
1/17/17 Michelle in Hong Kong reports that Hong Kong Disneyland has placed three new "Magical Medallion" pressed coins onstage. The set of three features a Marvel Iron Man theme. We have ordered examples of the coins and hope to have scans added to the Hong Kong Disneyland Iron Man Pressed Coins soon as HKDL1701, HKDL1702, and HKDL1703. Happy collecting, Boomer.
11/14/16 A most welcome report from Ralph X!"Just back from HKDL. Some news:
1st, all the ‘cell phone penny holder’ GONE.
2nd, you cannot buy ‘full collection’ from Disney. They removed by some cannot say reason. BUT, you won’t miss that, you can buy them from air port. Don’t miss again. Call the cashier. Why you need full set? Confirmed you can get 3 pcs of LE pennies. And some retired pennies. Full collection book’s pennies more than the HKDL. I’ll shot some photos of all of them a bit later again.
3rd, but full collection without the Star War 3 pennies. And at the ‘city hall’ (the front door, near the rest room, total 2 machines, won’t miss that), the Duffy machine included the ‘full collection’. But the second machine excluded. You need get them. 4th, the book was updated. Book HKD 125. And full collection with book is HKD 720. A big black book, I don’t like this design. JUST only can find in main street. Call the cashier, otherwise, you won’t find it easily. So, as foreigner like me, you can ignore the book, because of I can make sure you can buy the book with full collection at air port until today (Nov. 13. 2016). But as local Hong Kong. THAT will be painful. Just can ask somebody for help, or, buy a ticket and pass the custom, go to the DFS store. Best Regards, Ralph."
03/19/16 New Hong Kong Disneyland Avengers pressed coins were just reported by Michelle in Hong Kong via Mike P. in California. Very cool set! They have kindly shared the marquee picture shown on this page. We will update the Hong Kong Disneyland Guide as soon as we can scan these new Hong Kong Disneyland pressed coins. Happy collecting, Boomer.
11/15/15Our thanks to Jimmy in Hong Kong for being the first to report a new set of Hong Kong Disneyland pressed "Magical Coins", Guide Numbers HKDL1507-509. We'll update the HKDL Pressed Coin Guide Guide soon. But, for now, here is a picture of the marquee shared by Jimmy. Happy collecting, Boomer.
9/15/15Jimmy in Hong Kong just shared a new set of three Inside Out Hong Kong Disneyland pressed pennies that arrived today! We'll have images and descriptions added to the Hong Kong Disneyland Guide . Happy collecting!
3/22/15 Our thanks to Jason N. who recently reported his discovery of a coin previously unlisted in the onstage Hong Kong Disneyland Magical Coin Guide. Before Jason's report, the coin had been believed to be a prototype. But, Jason reported that the coin was part of a recently acquired collection... suggesting the coin may have been onstage. Ultimately, Jimmy in Hong Kong confirmed the coin as part of his onstage collection and pressed at HKDL! Because the date of the coin's issue is approximate, the coin has been given a provisional onstage listing of HKDL1325 in the ParkPennies HKDL Guide. Happy collecting, Boomer.
1/25/15 Jimmy in Hong Kong reports new Tsum Tsum pressed penny machine! We'll post pictures and guide numbers as soon as we have them on the 2015 Hong Kong Disneyland Pressed Penny Guide page. Tsum Tsum "Pressed Penny" machine guide numbers HKDL1501, 1502, 1503. Images courtesy of Jimmy in Hong Kong 1/25/15.
8/11/14 We have not forgotten HKDL. It is just that there are no new coins to report. Some machine dies have been moved around, but, no new designs have been reported since our last new coin report in August of 2013. Maybe soon? :-)
4/18/14 [Major edit to this post late 4/18. Boomer needs a nap! :-) ] Our thanks to Wan Lin Yeo in Hong Kong for reporting coins currently onstage at HKDL. Wan Lin also writes: "It will also be helpful to mention that all HKDL coin machines accept Octopus Card (a stored value smartcard for electronic payment, mainly used for public transport system in HK). HKDL shops may not have so many HK$5 coins to change (each coin costs HK$15 & only HK$5 coins can be used). There are 13 machines in total. Imagine how much HK$5 coins one will need to change to collect all the HKDL coins! Some machines have problems accepting older HK$5 coins which are a bit dented at the corners. So pressed pennies collectors are advised to top up their Octopus Card before they go into HKDL! :D"
08/18/13 Jimmy in Hong Kong again has news of two more new penny press machines at the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort! Tokyo and Hong Kong have been really busy. Our thanks to Jimmy for marquee pictures of the penny press marquees, which have been added to our latest Hong Kong Disneyland Pressed Penny Guide page.
08/11/13 Fellow collector, Jimmy in Hong Kong, reports six new Hong Kong Disneyland pressed pennies! The coins will have guide numbers HKDL1307-1312. Our thanks to Jimmy for the marquee pictures. Happy collecting, Boomer.
06/02/2013 Our thanks to Jimmy in Hong Kong who reported today that there are three new Magical Coins onstage! And they match the recently released HKDL pressed penny pins! :-) Happy collecting, Boomer and the folks at ParkPennies.com.
05/30/2013 Bryan in Hong Kong reports that all HKDL Magical Coin pressed penny machines have increased the cost of a Magical Coin from 10 Hong Kong Dollars to 15 Hong Kong Dollars. (Now about $2.00 USD each.)
5/17/2013 Our thanks to both Jimmy and Bryan in Hong Kong for reporting a new set of HKDL pressed penny pins celebrating the opening of the "Mystic Point" attraction at Hong Kong Disneyland. View a picture of the new Mystic Point Pressed Penny Pins.
11/21/12 The Hong Kong Disneyland pressed penny guide has been updated with the latest Halloween coin scans. Our thanks to Mike, Thelma, Michelle, and Dee for their help in reporting the new coins, sending a marquee image, and making the coin scans possible.
We are now only need a HKDL HKDL1222, HKDL1223, HKDL1224 Stitch marquee picture to finalize the guide numbers. If you have one, please contact Boomer.
10/14/12 Our thanks to Thelma C. for sharing news of a 2012 Halloween pressed penny set at Hong Kong Disneyland! We'll update the HKDL pressed penny guides as soon as we have scans and machine order / picture of the machine marquee for these new coins.
09/21/12 More new Hong Kong Disneyland Magical Coins reported!
We hope to have coin scans of a new Grizzly Gulch set soon.
Our thanks to Mike P. and Hui Michelle for their report.
09/19/12 New Hong Kong Disneyland Magical Coins reported!
We hope to have coin scans soon.
Also reported is an anticipated Princess Set.
Our thanks to Mike P., Hui Michelle, and Thelma C.
05/25/12 Our thanks to Jennifer L. for sharing news and a picture of a new pressed penny machine at HKDL! Jennifer's report also included a HKDL pressed penny map and images of the other current penny press machine marquees! The 2012 HKDL pressed penny guide includes Jennifer's picture of the latest penny press marquee already. We hopefully will have scans and descriptions up soon too.
04/30/12 Avid collectors, Mike P. and Hui Michelle, just reported a new penny press machine at Hong Kong Disneyland! They have shared a marquee picture from the machine. We hope to have images of the actual coins soon. The marquee image is already listed in the 2012 Hong Kong Disneyland pressed penny guide.
03/13/12 Our thanks to fellow collector Mike P. and his friend in China, Hui Michelle, (EBay ID: mic92065) for sharing the latest Hong Kong Disneyland marquee pictures so that the 2012 HKDL pressed penny guide could be finalized to date.
02/28/12 The 2012 Hong Kong Disneyland guide has been updated. Our thanks to Mike P. and Hui Michelle for their help. 12 coins have been reported onstage so far this year and all are listed with pictures. Given how difficult these coins can be to obtain, we have listed them without delay, absent confirmed "ABC" button coin orders. (The "ABC" button order for HKDL guide numbers HKDL1201-1209 will be provisional pending our success in obtaining pictures of the penny press machine marquees. If you have or can obtain pictures of the current Hong Kong Disneyland penny press machine marquees, please contact Boomer.) If you are a collector of HKDL Magical Coins, we suggest you do not delay in obtaining the latest arrivals. We believe the Valentine's coins in particular will be onstage for only a short time.
11/26/11 Hong Kong Disneyland Christmas Coins!!!! View them on the Hong Kong Disneyland 2011 Guide page. Our thanks to Mike P. and Hui M. for this report. Hmmm... now Disneyland Tokyo and Disneyland Hong Kong have CHRISTMAS coins on stage. We are receiving status reports daily from collectors that are searching Disneyland USA for the traditional "Seasonal". Stay tuned for updates. If you have news about Disneyland elongated coins, you can share it via email.
07/04/11 Thanks to Mike P., the well known Disney Elongated Coin Collector, and Hui Michelle, a Hong Kong based pressed penny collector and seller (eBay ID mic92065) we have added six more new Hong Kong Disneyland "pressed pennies" to the guides with penny press marquee pictures! You can view them in the 2011 HKDL pressed penny guide. Again our thanks to Mike and Michelle for their help with this update.
10/11/10 The very difficult 2009 Hong Kong Disneyland Pressed Penny guide has been updated / completed. The marquee pictures have finally been replaced with coin scans. Although some coin images were very hard to obtain, we believe the guide to be "definitive". No additional onstage coins have been reported or suspicioned to exist that are not already listed. If any variations or prototypes are found, we will, of course, update the guides at the time of discovery. The 2010 Hong Kong Disneyland Pressed Penny guide is up to date. Several more coins are expected to be placed onstage by the end of the year, if past placement patterns are repeated again this year. Happy Collecting, Boomer.
09/01/10 We are now "comfortable" with the 2009 Hong Kong Disneyland guide numbers. We have assigned guide numbers and soon we hope to have actual scans up. Several challenges delayed us, including but not limited to the movement of dies from one location to another and dies from previous years being carried over or matched in new sets / machines. Also, language and distance would have made this listing impossible without ParkPennies.com visitor contributions. Our thanks to the avid collectors, friends, and merchants that have helped refine our listings over this past year.
07/02/10 EBay sellers have offered some late 2009 HKDL coins for auction and report that many new 2010 coins are expected soon. We hope to have an update for the HKDL guides after we have sorted out the newer and older coins against the machine marquee pictures that have been sent to us over the past months. Hong Kong Disneyland sometimes carries older dies over into newer machines or uses both new and older die designs to make new "sets" of coins. Dies are listed only the first time they are placed on stage. Moving dies within the park or making new machine "sets" from dies already onstage can make for a challenge when only new coins are listed in our guides. But, we are up to the challenge!
03/14/09 The new hotel penny press machines reported 2/2/09 feature dies/coins that were previously vended by various machines inside the Disneyland Hong Kong Resort. The first hotel machine offers a Winnie The Pooh (HKDL0801), Mickey and Minnie (HKDL0618) and Marie (HKDL0714). The second new hotel machine offers Mickey and Minnie "Golden Mickeys" (HKDL0802), Chip N Dale (HKDL0706) and Goofy (HKDL0623). As long time collectors will note, it is unusual for dies to be reused in a new machine / location especially dies that appear to have been gathered from five different past machine sets. Advanced collectors may want to note the new location of these dies so as not to confuse them. New collectors have another chance to press these coins. (The HKDL Guides have been so noted.)
02/02/09 NEW COINS at the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort! Pictures courtesy of Stanley in Hong Kong.
11/19/08 Thirty new Hong Kong Disneyland magical coins have been added to the 2008 Hong Kong Disneyland Guide. Although it's nice to see new coins for HKDL, visitors have already brought to our attention the fact that these coins are not the hand engraved Disney quality of the past. Given they often replace older nicely engraved coins with the poor quality computerized engraving some collectors have chosen to focus their collections on the earlier hand-engraved coins. (A trend we have seen at Disneyland Anaheim and now WDW.)
I hope the good folks at TDA and Disney Corporate will see this as an opportunity and take a look at the higher quality engraving currently offered by The Tokyo Disneyland Resort. TDR practices could be used to "plus up" future Disneyland Anaheim and WDW elongated coin offerings.
We hope ParkPennies.com visitors who have emailed us about this issue will also voice their concerns to the good folks at Disney. Postings at MiceAge's MiceChat and other leading Disney Fan sites may also be of help. I believe Mickey does listen, but, he is 80 years old now, I feel we must speak respectfully and loudly.
10/01/08 15 NEW COINS REPORTED AT HKDL by HKDLLOVE!!!! Guides will be undated soon.
Our thanks to eBay ID HKDLLOVE
for these marquee pictures
09/29/08 Ebay's HKDLLOVE reports that there are 15 or more new coins at Hong Kong Disneyland. We hope to have pictures of these new coins shortly. Many HKDLLOVE Hong Kong Disneyland "pressed penny" auctions are linked via the ParkPennies.com visitors' pressed penny auctions page.
09/23/08 There are a couple of new additions to the Hong Kong Disneyland penny collecting books guide. No new coins reported.
Also, here is a brochure piece from Hong Kong Disneyland inviting visitors to search for hidden penny press machines. Sample courtesy of Stanley in Hong Kong. (Click to view a larger image.)
06/17/08 With Monday's mail, we once again caught up with visitor free pressed coin requests and look forward to more. If your SASE was mailed to us over the past week, it's back on the way to you with a "priceless" ParkPennies.com elongated coin. If you have friends that might like a DW0028 coin for their collections, please do share a link to the free elongated coin offer with them.
05/05/08 We haven't forgotten Hong Kong Disneyland! But, there just has been no news to report. If you have news to report, please contact Boomer.
3/01/08 Three new coins at Hong Kong Disneyland! Report and picture courtesy of eBay seller MarkMark2. Current MarkMark2 auctions of these coins are linked to the ParkPennies.com Visitor Pressed Penny Auctions page. We will be adding a new 2008 collection guide page with these coins soon.
12/10/07 Please note we have consolidated news to the main pressed penny news page. (It's a good page to bookmark.) Specialized Hong Kong Disneyland news will of course, still be located here.
12/10/07 Due to our error in posting, HKDL News page readers, may send for a free ParkPennies.com coin through 12/17/07. Details posted below at 11/27/07. Happy collecting, Boomer.
11/27/07DW Guide description of the coin pictured above: (Horizontal pressed penny image) PARKPENNIES.COM, FOR COLLECTORS OF, DISNEYLAND ® , ELONGATED COINS, Dot border in a style similar to the DL0001 and DN0001, Initials ABC are between bottom center dots for Anastasia, Bob, and Charlotte.
First pressed 11/07 by ParkPennies.com. This coin could be one of my top favorites!
Last week, we mentioned we'd have a small 'thank you' this Season in appreciation of your visits and links to ParkPennies.com... Well, two very generous, long time friends of ours and the hobby presented ParkPennies.com with the gift of the wonderful die that made the coin pictured above. After an unnecessarily long period of contemplation, an epiphany of both imagination and penny-pinching thrift occurred to Boomer. He thought (drum roll) why not make a gift a ParkPennies pressed penny to our ParkPennies.com friends!? (Yep! Nothing gets past Boomer! ) He reasons that with the die he could personally make a ParkPennies.com pressed penny as a gift for you. Cuz he cares, has a terrific new penny die to share, and loves to press pennies. (We also need to keep him busy and out of trouble.)
So, although we can't setup a specific time to meet, if you happen to spot one of us at the park, we'll have a coin for you. If you are out of the area, we missed you at Disneyland, or if too many gray-haired guys wearing Hawaiian-style shirts and khaki colored pants have sworn to you they weren't Boomer and ran away screaming... Just mail a self addressed stamped envelope to: B00MER C/0 R0BERT H0FF, Post Office Box 17812, Anaheim CA 92817. Be sure to include your choice of either a bright uncirculated shiny copper cent or a darker patina circulated copper cent. No strings attached. It's okay to put the coin up on eBay or trade it with another collector for something else. (As if there is anything more priceless or beautiful?) But, please only one per person / address.
We do hope to offer the coin to ParkPennies.com visitors every now and then. However, this offer has to end by December 10th, to give Boomer time to carefully make your coin and hopefully get it back to you by December 20th.
Thank you for your gifts of visits, park reports, and links that share our humble site with your friends and web site visitors. And of course, Happy collecting!
11/15/07 We've added the latest 26 Magical Coins to the Hong Kong Disneyland Magical Coin Press Machine Guides. The images are mostly "stick images" done without the three dimensional "Disney" quality hand engraving we know from the past. Given the many options available to a customer like Disney, and the engraving talent available to their suppliers, I am at a loss to know why images like these are in the Disneyland Resorts, especially given Disney's heritage. On the plus side, it is nice to see new coins especially those with popular themes like Nightmare Before Christmas, Pin Trading and Pirates to name a few. I also have a new found appreciation for the hand-engraved coins of the past that some collectors now call "vintage".
10/25/07 - 10/31/07 NEW Hong Kong Disneyland Magical Coins! Pictures courtesy of MarkMark2. Guides will be updated as soon as possible.
New Machines Reported 10/27/07
Coin images and descriptions will be in the Hong Kong Disneyland Guide soon.
06/04/07 Here is a picture of the new marquee featuring the new pirate coin, courtesy of MarkMark2.
05/29/07 This really is news! A new coin at Hong Kong Disneyland! Late last night, we received an "Anony-Mouse" tip "A new POC coin launched at Pirateland on May26". We work here for "tips" and that was a good one! Thank you.
This morning we spotted one these new coins offered via an Auction by a ParkPennies.com Auction Links Participant. We will make it a priority to secure a scan of this, the newest edition to the Hong Kong Disneyland Magical Coin Collection Guide. Happy collecting... world around!
02/22/07 Or may be not!
12/29/06 We haven’t forgotten these wonderful coins. There just hasn’t been any new coins or developments to report recently. Maybe after the first of the new year?
9/18/06 Stanley in Hong Kong, was the first to report three new Disney medals located at the airport. These new issues will be added to The Hong Kong Disneyland Guide soon. (You may view them now via Stanley’s eBay auctions at MarkMark2. Our thanks to Stanley for this report.
If you have a HKDL related elongated medal that we haven’t mentioned, please contact us. Once your find has been verified, we’ll credit you as well as adding it to the guide. .
9/15/06 The Hong Kong Disneyland Guide has been updated. 17 new coins, scans and descriptions have been added. These are the first new coins for 2006 and therefore have guide numbers starting with 06. This week’s new hotel issues will be added to the guides soon. Have a great weekend!
9/14/06 Stanley reports six new coins at Hong Kong Disneyland! Here are pictures of the machine marquees also courtesy of Stanley in Hong Kong. ( You may view his eBay auctions of HKDL coins here. )
THE LATEST (Scroll up for earlier Hong Kong Disneyland news.)
If you have a new coin to report from HKDL or any other Disneyland park, please contact us.
The Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel Marquees as of 9/13/06
Coin images and descriptions will be in the Hong Kong Disneyland Guide soon.
9/04/06 We have confirmed that there are at least 17 new coins on stage at HKDL for 2006. The new 2006 coins will be assigned numbers in the same order as the original 2005 machine sets.
We suspicion that there may also have been a die replacement or two. (Coins appear to be unchanged on the marquees. However, a 2005 die or two may have been replaced by an "identical" 2006 die.)
Guide numbers are currently waiting for us to make high magnification detail comparisons between current 2005 coins that are probable carry over’s and the original 2005 coins. This will avoid future guide number changes.
If we weren’t extreme, we just wouldn’t be ParkPennies.com!
8/23/06 NEW COINS! Below, in guide order, are the ten original marquees with the Christmas 2005 marquee change. Next are the ten 8/22/06 marquees. We hope these pictures / comparisons will be of help to you in identifying recent HKDL coin introductions and replacements until we are able to update the HKDL Guide. As you can see possibly 17 coins were introduced recently. It appears the Limited Edition coins have been retired plus another dozen coins or so including Pluto. It’s been a bad year for poor old Pluto hasn’t it. Samples of ALL on-stage HKDL coins are on the way to ParkPennies. New coins will be given guide numbers and all coins will be examined for possible die variations. Check back to view our findings.
Our thanks to Stanley H. in Hong Kong, the first person to send these pictures for ParkPennies.com visitors. (Some HKDL collectors may know him as MARKMARK2 on eBay.)
8/20/06 David H. contacted ParkPennies to let us all know about at least 9 new HKDL coins! We hope to have samples of these coins before long and will add scans and updates to the HKDL Guide soon after. It appears that the five "Limited Edition" coins are among those taken off-stage and replaced by new coins. We will post to this page as soon as all is confirmed.
8/17/06 One sample Hong Kong Disneyland Christmas coin just arrived here at the ParkPennies executive cramped dungeon-like cubical. Alas, it is the same coin as last year, the HKDL0532. We believe another coin may be released (or re-released) soon. Check back for updates.
8/15/06 Two Christmas coins have been reported. We have requested scans / coins and hope to identify them as new coins or reissues of last year’s coins.... Please check back for this update.
3/20/06 We haven’t overlooked these treasures. However, there has been no news or reports recently. We believe the guides to be up to date. If you have anything to share or add, please contact us.
1/25/06 Stanley H. reports from Hong Kong that he did not find any new coins as of 1/23/05. 12/15/05 A picture of the Hong Kong Disneyland pressed penny book has been added to the HKDL Guide. (Thank you for the suggestion, J. D.!) .
12/13/05 A HKDL thumbnail index is now on line. It’s a fast way to see all the HKDL coins. If HKDL goes the way the Tokyo Disneyland has, the number of coins will grow rapidly!
12/12/05 New coins reported by Stanley in Hong Kong!
As you can see, there are two new Christmas coins at HKDL!
It appears that the two coins they have replaced the HKDL0501 and HKDL0502 are now off-stage. No word yet if they will return.
12/07/05 Stanley in Hong Kong has very kindly offered to share these marquee pictures with us. HKDL Guide numbers and descriptions will be entered soon. The first ten Hong Kong Disneyland Marquees!
Coin images and descriptions are in the Hong Kong Disneyland Guide.
11/9/05 Hong Kong Disneyland, HKDL, pressed pennies (AKA medals, souvenirs, magical coins and elongated coins) will soon become the latest addition to ParkPennies.com. Yes, Disneyland Anaheim, Disneyland Tokyo and now Disneyland Hong Kong pressed souvenirs will be featured in our news reports and reference guides.
Pictures and scans of the first 30 coins will be added over the next week or two with regular updates. Please check back often and if you are outside of the European Economic Area, email me personally with Hong Kong Disneyland posts, coins or news you would like to share.
11/16/05 First look at the ParkPennies Disneyland Hong Kong "Magical Coins" Guide here.
The guide isn’t complete, but, you can see the coins. We know many of you couldn’t wait any longer and... we couldn’t either!
