12/04/2023 Our thanks to Kelly B. (Pressed Penny Exchange on FaceBook, Scrapbooker23 on eBay) for reporting a new 2024 Medallion collection book. We will be adding this specialized medallion book to the guides soon. Happy collecting, Boomer
12/03/2023Paul D Green just released a great Disneyland pressed coin and medallion video. It is a very professional video taking us with him on a visit to the Disneyland Park in a search for the many medallion and pressed coin machines there. Do check it out. If you are not yet subscribed to Paul's YouTube Channel, please do and check out his diverse past videos as well. Happy collecting, Boomer.
12/01/2023 No word of new medallions or pressed coins so far. Happy collecting, Boomer
11/10/2023 Our thanks to Alex L. in Hong Kong for his help with new images of the new Frozen HKDL2314-16 magical coin machine and marquee. (Last month, I confused a new image of an onstage 2014 Frozen penny press with the recently placed 2023 Frozen machine. All is correct now, with newly added images of both the 2014 machine and 2023 machine. Happy collecting, Boomer.
10/27/2023 Our thanks to Kelly B. for sharing images of the newest Disneyland Resort medallion machine #23. This new Disney California Adventure machine offers four Magic Key themed medallions with images of a Castle, Pixar Pal-A-Round, Walt and Mickey Partners, and the classic Disneyland Sign. View a snapshot of the four Magic Key Medallions. We hope to have medallion images and descriptions added to the Disneyland Resort Medallions Guide soon. Happy collecting, Boomer.
10/26/2023 Our thanks to the ParkPennies readersKelly B., Alex D., Mike R... who reported a new set of Disneyland Resort medallions today. This set of four Magic Key Passholder themed medallions (not Disney 100 themed medallions) will be available at the Magic Key Terrace in Disney California Adventure Park starting on 10/27/2023. For conditions and requirements, please read the official Instagram post by disneylandmagickey:"Attention medallion collectors!! Designs are subject to availability and may vary. Discounts do not apply. Subject to change or cancellation without notice. Both a park reservation and valid admission are required for park entry." Well, if collecting was easy, it wouldn't be fun... or so I keep telling myself. :-) We hope to have images, guide descriptions etc. soon. The Disneyland Pressed Coin and Medallion Machine Location Page has been updated. [This post was extensively edited 10/27/2023 to remove some confusion and add different confusion. %-)] Happy collecting, Boomer
10/24/2023 Our thanks to Clinton N. for reporting a new location for the Remy, Colette & Linguini, Ratatouille Logo and the Bellman Mickey, Goofy's Kitchen, Goofy and Stitch (DR0130-132 and DR0150-152) pressed penny machines. They have moved from the location near Goofy's Kitchen to the lobby area of the Disneyland Hotel Fantasy Tower, adjacent to the Fantasia Gift Shop and near the model cruise ship. The Disneyland Pressed Coin and Medallion Machine Location Page has been updated. Happy collecting, Boomer.
10/21/2023 Our thanks to fellow collector and longtime contributor to ParkPennies.com, Jeremy H. for sharing with us some excellent images he recently took at the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort and at the Tokyo Disneyland Resort. Pictures from this collection of more than 200 images will be appearing in the ParkPennies guides over the upcoming weeks. Happy collecting, Boomer
10/15/2023 We have added several more machine and marquee images to the guides and more are in the queue, courtesy of the Wooten family. Happy collecting, Boomer.
09/14/2023 Our thanks to Alex D. and Kelly B. for reporting a new location for the CA0238-40 Capt. America, Black Widow and SPIDER-MAN pressed quarter machine which has moved from the Avengers Superstore location to Gone Hollywood. We've already updated the Disneyland Pressed Coin and Medallion Machine Location Page. Happy collecting, Boomer.
09/06/2023 Our thanks to a fellow collector who reported that a few medallions at the Disneyland Resort had changed. Another trusted source confirmed that a few out of stock medallions were temporarily substituted and all should be back to normal by now. However, if you purchased medallions on or around September 5th, especially at the World of Disney, do double check your purchases. Happy collecting, Boomer
08/29/2023 Our thanks again to the Wooten Family. This time for this week's generous donation of Disneyland images dating as far back as the 1960s! We look forward to sharing select, relevant pictures from this nostalgic collection with you, courtesy of the Wootens. Happy Collecting! Boomer.
08/27/2023 Our thanks to Alex L. in Hong Kong for reporting two new machines at the Hollywood Hotel, Hong Kong Disneyland... and for sharing his excellent images. View the HKDL Magical Coin Guide with guide numbers and machine images. (Updates to follow.) Happy collecting, Boomer.
8/15/2023 With thanks to Kelly B. (Pressed Penny Exchange on FaceBook, Scrapbooker23 on eBay) the ParkPennies.com The Disney 100 Years of Wonder Medallions Guide has been updated with medallions from the latest five machines. Hopefully of interest to collectors, we also have a single page with just the images of ALL the Disneyland Resort medallions ever issued. The retired medallions are flagged with a gray background and there are links to in depth guide listings including marquee and machine images at the bottom of the page. There are still some bugs... of course... :-) Please email Boomer if, when you spot a typo etc. The page is new and I wanted to upload it ASAP for visitors who have asked about it... repeatedly! :-) Happy collecting, Boomer.
08/09/2023: With great sadness, today I heard that Bill Hogarth passed away on August 4, 2023 with family near at the age of 90. As many of us know, Bill was a great friend to many of us collectors as well as a champion of the hobby from its very start back in 1987. I know I speak for many of us when I say we will miss you Bill. I will update Bill's page over the next week or so. Boomer.
08/02/2023: Our thanks to Jeremy M. for reporting that the Disneyland Resort recently updated the silver Spira gift token packaging. Although the token itself is unchanged, the 2023 sleeve in Aurebesh now reads "may you have the better hand". (The original inscription read "may your deals go well".) Our thanks to Jeremy M. for also translating the Aurebesh. We hope to add an image of the new Spira token envelope soon. Happy collecting, Boomer.
07/22/2023 We added links in the ParkPennies Disneyland 100 Years of Wonder pressed penny and medallion guides to two of DavidsCoinTravels excellent videos:Disneyland 100th Medallions Set | Complete Guide and Disneyland 100th Pressed Penny Set | Complete Guide. These videos document a moment in time / history for pressed penny and medallion collectors as though we visiting the park and the machines. I think they are a great complement to the ParkPennies Disney 100 reference guides and worthy of sharing with ParkPennies Disneyland 100 Years of Wonder pressed coin and medallion collectors. Happy collecting, Boomer
07/16/2023 You may have noticed some newly added guide notes, history and images. Some vague estimates of onstage and offstage dates are being refined and images are being added or improved. All thanks to thenotes and pictures donated Wooten Family. The Disneyland Park Guide is about half-way done. The Resort Hotels and Downtown Disney Guides will follow. This project will take some time, but will be well worth it for those of us who reference these guides now and in the future. Happy collecting, Boomer.
07/03/2023 Our thanks to Kelly B. (Pressed Penny Exchange on FaceBook, Scrapbooker23 on eBay) for her report and images of a new Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Forbidden Eye themed set of three pressed pennies in the Rajah's Mint penny press, at the Adventureland Bazaar, Disneyland Resort, Anaheim. Guide numbers are DL0784, DL0785 and DL0786 which replaced the DL0648-50 Indiana Jones set at the same location. %-) The designs feature A. Indy chased by boulder, B. "Eyes of Mara" and C. Indiana Jones cracking a whip. All coins in this set include a new backstamp design, a stylized "ADVENTURELAND". etc. More stuff here soon. :-) The Disneyland Park Pressed Coins Guide will be updated soon. The new format, larger print two-page Disneyland Pressed Coin and Medallion Machine Location Page has been updated with this new pressed coin machine set. Happy Collecting, Boomer
06/30/2023 Our thanks to the well-known ParkPennies contributor, Dee D. for reporting Taiwan's Formosa Express 100th Anniversary Pressed Souvenirs! This two machine set features Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Chip 'N Dale, Donald Duck, Dumbo Stitch, Aerial and Marie. Happy collecting! Boomer.
06/21/2023 Dozens of early Disneyland penny press and marquee images have already been added to the guide pages thanks to the Wooten Family. The awesome Wooten collection of Disneyland coin press machine images is strongest over the years where the ParkPennies guides were weakest. (1987-2005) More of these most welcome images will be added over time. Boomer will probably add more errors too. :-) So, do let us know if you spot any errors or have any content you'd like to add to this "by collectors for collectors" reference site. Happy collecting, Boomer.
06/14/2023 We are most grateful for a very generous donation by the Wooten Family. As longtime collectors may know, Nancy, John and Wendy Wooten, over many dedicated years, gathered an amazing collection of elongated coins which included a significant number of notable Disneyland pressed coin related documents, notes, guides, images, coins, and other items. Of course, Nancy had shared her extensive knowledge and insights with ParkPennies visitors since the start in the 1990s. However, the addition of these most welcome items will provide even more and better images, expanded details and history. The images and documents will be shared and preserved here for collectors today and in the future. We have added a few new and / or improved images already and will provide a listing of *some* of the more significant updates on the Change Log in the future. Happy Collecting! Boomer.
5/29/2023 Our thanks to several Disneyland pressed coin collectors for confirming that the CA0223-225 Star Wars Classic Quarter Press Machine is now off-stage. Given recent events, we have marked the guide listings as "Provisionally Retired" for the time being. The CA0232-234 Star Wars Classic Quarter Press Machine (Star Wars YODA, Star Wars Princess LEIA and Vader "I am your FATHER") is still available. As you can see, in the updated Disneyland Pressed Coin and Medallion Machine Location Page (PDF) the number of "press you own coin machines is dwindling. Don't delay if you wish to add these coins to your collection. Happy collecting, Boomer.
05/26/2023 Please check our ParkPennies.com FaceBook Page or contact Boomer for news if www.ParkPennies.com is down or out of date. We may have some software and / or server (Adobe / Godaddy) "challenges" in June 2023. [Update 6/2/2023: Issues have been resolved.] Boomer
05/20/2023 Our thanks to Randy K. and Chris E. for helping rid these pages of some typos. Yes, I know typos on ParkPennies.com? :-) Do contact Boomer if you spot an error, typo or have something to add to a guide or article. ParkPennies is by collectors and for collectors, your comments are always most welcome. Happy collecting, Boomer.
05/11/2023 Although Disneyland Resort medallions are still a new collectible at the park, some have already been taken offstage. But, the good news is that because these are still relatively new collectibles, most all of them are still available onstage at the Disneyland Resort or from fellow collectors and resellers. Matter of fact, all Disney 100 Years of Wonder medallions are still currently onstage, except for the two error medallions. For collectors who wish to collect these fun souvenirs, here is a page with images of all Disneyland Resort medallions ever issued including error medallions. (Medallions that have been taken offstage and may not return have a gray background.) For machine descriptions and locations, please download the new format, larger print two-page Disneyland Pressed Coin and Medallion Machine Location Page (PDF) featuring machine locations and descriptions of all pressed coins on page one and of all medallion machines on page two. Happy collecting, Boomer.
05/06/2023 - 5/09/2023 Some have asked about the latest Mandalorian medallions, Boba Fett, Grogu, Bo-Katan Kryze & Cad Bane. Now, given Boomer has trouble telling Mickey from Donald... and given Boomer's failing eyesight... is he sure the first medallion in this set is Boba Fett and not Cobb Vanth?? Well, no he's not! The dent in the helmet identifies Boba's armor... we thought Boba was dead... but then Cobb Vanth was wearing Boba's armor and Boba was found alive... then... Well, Mickey has big ears and Donald has a bill, but Boba and Cobb? Boomer melt down! As always your help in the positive identification of the character pictured on the Disneyland Resort #62 medallion is most welcome. Click this link to email Boomer. [Update 5/09/2023: Several welcome comments were received representing both Star Wars Fans as well as one "investigative report" quoting a person in the industry. The consensus favors Boba Fett as the intended subject of the DRM0062 medallion. So, he will hold the title unless / until facts supporting a change are submitted and confirmed.] Happy collecting, Boomer and the folks at ParkPennies.com.
04/21/2023 A new format, larger print two-page Disneyland Pressed Coin and Medallion Machine Location Page has been uploaded. My thanks to the well-known collector that thankfully brought to my attention the very small font size. (As more and more locations were added, the print kept scaling smaller and smaller. :-( But, this new format offers larger print plus a dedicated page for pressed coins and for medallions. The links, file locations, printing, viewing, etc. are unchanged. Enjoy! Happy collecting, Boomer.
04/19/2023 ANOTHER NEW Penny Press! Yes, Kelly B. found this one also. %-) Join her FB Group here: Pressed Penny Exchange. The latest find is an eight design Disney 100 Years of Wonder penny press machine that has taken the place of the Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout! Pressed Coin Set CA0279, CA0280 and CA0281. The old machine will be noted as offstage and probably changed to "retired" as soon as confirmed. But, as we say farewell to a three-design machine, we are greeting a new eight play Guardians of the Galaxy CA0291-298 machine! The Disneyland Pressed Coin and Medallion Machine Location Page is already updated, the Disney California Adventure Pressed Coin Guide and Disney 100 Years of Wonder Pressed Coin Guide will be updated soon. Happy collecting, Boomer.
04/19/2023 NEW Penny Press! Our thanks to Kelly B. (Pressed Penny Exchange on FaceBook, Scrapbooker23 on eBay) for being the first to report and to send images of this new machine. The DL0776-783 eight-design vending-style penny press dispenses nice classic character themed Disney 100 Years of Wonder designs at the Main Street Penny Arcade. We have already updated the Disneyland Pressed Coin and Medallion Machine Location Page. The Disneyland Park Pressed Coin Guide and Disney 100 Years of Wonder Pressed Coin Guide will be updated soon. Kelly B. also noticed that The Walt's Quotes, DL0660-662 quarter press machine was offstage and the DL0669-671 Mary Poppins three-play pressed penny machine are missing. Maybe they are retired. We will note the guides and probably change the status of these two machines when confirmed. Happy collecting, Boomer.
04/17/2023 Kelly B. reports that the Splash Mountain penny press, previously located in the exit to Splash Mountain, has been moved to the boardwalk in front of Pooh Corner. Also that one of the Pooh Corner machines which was located in that same area, has been moved. -Updates to follow. We have updated the Disneyland Pressed Coin and Medallion Machine Location Page. Happy collecting, Boomer.
04/17/2023 Our thanks to Kelly B. for her amazing help with the latest CA0288, CA0289 and CA0290 and continuing help researching the Finding Dory set. If you would like to acquire these coins for your collection, do contact Kelly B. (Pressed Penny Exchange on FaceBook, Scrapbooker23 on eBay) Happy collecting, Boomer.
04/17/2023 Our thanks to Michael H. for sharing his extensive comparison of the CA0217-219 pre-conversion pressed coins and the early post-conversion coins. I hope to have samples of the current Finding Dory pressed coins soon and will post the findings shortly after. Happy collecting, Boomer.
04/16/2023 Our thanks to Jeremy H. for being the first to report a new Disney California Adventure Disney 100 Years pressed penny set, the CA0288, CA0289 and CA0290 at Kingswell Camera and also for sharing images of the machine, marquee etc. Given the changes in the machines, there may have also been a slight change in the CA0217-219 Finding Dory pressed penny set designs / backstamps. [Edit 4/16: Over the years cabinets have changed and sets moved. Since 1-13-2021, the Finding Dory set has been inside Trolley Treats in the cabinet that last held the CA0265-267 2020 annual nickel set, not the cabinet that originally held the CA0217-219 Dory set. Recently there have been rumors that support a comparison of the current Finding Dory pressed coins with the originals for any possible change.] Updates to follow as the plot thickens! :-) The handy Disneyland Pressed Coin and Medallion Machine Location Page has been updated and can be downloaded, printed before you go to the park or checked real-time while you are in the park via phone etc. Updates to the Disney California Adventure Pressed Coins Guide will follow. Happy collecting, Boomer
04/14/2023 Our thanks and the Eagle Eye Award :-) goes to the longtime Disneyland pressed coin collector, Delores N. for reporting a typo today. (Now corrected. :-) We very much appreciate your help by reporting any typos in grammar or programing. Happy collecting, Boomer
04/13/2023David's Coin Travels on YouTube has an interesting video today about Digital Pressed Pennies. Is it the future? Happy collecting, Boomer.
03/22/2023 Updated the Jokes Page... Update 3/24/2023 a fellow ParkPennies visitor, in sympathy for the plight of our jokes page, shared some new jokes. :-)
03/22/2023Added six business cards to the Honorable Mention page that did not qualify for addition to the Disneyland Wannabe Guide. But deserve honorable mention as elongated coin business cards of people who support the hobby of collecting Disney pressed coins. Have an elongated coin business card that isn't already listed in a guide? Let Boomer know. Happy collecting, Boomer.
03/22/2023 Added the Wooten's 50 years of rolling together pressed coin to the Nancy Wooten Tribute page.
03/21/2023 Our thanks to the well-known collector, Dee D. for sharing a really fun coin. After much detective work, Dee found and acquired an example of The Donald Dack pressed coin apparently made by a European fan trying to emulate Disney stuff. :-) Yes, Donald Dack is now a proud member of our collection of pressed coins with Disney spirit / honorable mention. (There are lots of other spelling errors on this website, but I did those. :-) Happy collecting, Boomer
03/19/2023 Don Cade put on an fantastic So Cal Coin Meet 2023 yesterday! Lots of great people sharing the hobby... The weather was perfect in the mid-70s, clear skies. The location was excellent with ample tables, shade and a lake view. Don also hosted a great lunch plus snacks, beverages... Needless to say, there was a good amount of pressed coin trading, buying, selling and story telling going on that lasted for hours. (Yes, Boomer was a contributor to the story telling, but by far not the only one! :-) About mid-meet Don made a surprise presentation of an amazing gift to "Boomer". It is a framed set including a coin die engraved "Thank you Boomer from the Parkpennies.com visitors and Disneyland Elongated Collectors" with example pressed coins (both canceled and not canceled) over a plaque that reads "Presented to Boomer, March 18, 2023, from the parkpennies.com visitors". Accompanied by an extensive set of coins pressed on the coin die as well as SoCal Coin Meet 2023 TEC coins. There are no words to describe how surprised I was and how honored I feel. Thank you to Don Cade, Jim McNally and all fellow collectors that were part of this very special gesture. I probably should say how humbled I am... But, I am so dang proud of this fantastic gift that I am going to be bragging it up to everyone, as you can see! :-) Additionally, Don gave all attendees of the meet a gift pack. The pack included a sample of the very limited canceled and uncanceled "Boomer" DT0031 coin pressed on Ecuador 100 Sucres coins, a SoCal Coin Meet 2023 TEC pressed on an Ecuador 100 Sucres coin, a Mini TEC Meet pressed penny, a ZZZCOINS.com DT0019 pressed penny, a Tyler Tyson, TEC President wooden nickel and a classic "TEC Lucky Join Today" pressed penny. Not already a member of TEC?
For more information visit TEC The Elongated Collectors Web site. Thank you all so much for sharing this wonderful hobby of collecting Disney pressed coins and... for visiting ParkPennies over the past 25 years. Very Happy Collecting, Boomer.

03/02/2023 Our thanks to Paul G. for his help with the DRM0014 description which, with his help, we corrected / updated today. There are lots of new listing recently. 02/21/2023 Our thanks to April S. for catching a typo, an embarrassing typo. :-) Happy collecting, Boomer
02/20/2023 Added a guide page just for Disney 100 Years of Wonder pressed coins. This is a guide page exclusively for collectors of Disney100 coins with listings of all Disney100 pressed coins in one place. Happy collecting, Boomer.
02/19/2023 Our thanks to Jeremy H. for his recon :-) of the Disneyland Resort and for sharing some great pictures. Happy Collecting, Boomer
02/19/2023 As avid Disney 100 Years of Wonder medallion collectors are aware, so far there are two "Key" error medallions. They were placed onstage and then replaced by corrected versions. Of course, ParkPennies has comparison images of the four tokens, the original error medallions and their replacements. Here are the link to the DRM0030/DRM0030A error Steamboat Mickey and the corrected version and here is a link to the DRM0047 / DRM0047A error Lilo and Stitch and the corrected design. These medallions were the original onstage versions and only onstage for a week or so. But, they can still be found for sale online and via some collectors on FaceBook. Happy collecting, Boomer.
02/18/2023 Our thanks to Alex L. in Hong Kong for sharing a new pressed coin at Hong Kong Disneyland! The guide number is HKDL2304 and it will be added to the Hong Kong Disneyland Magical Coins Guide soon. Happy collecting, Boomer.
02/08/2023So Cal Coin Meet 2023! Our thanks to longtime elongated coin collector, roller and TEC Member... Don C. who has set up the SoCal Coin Meet 2023 for noon Saturday, March 18th at Yorba Regional Park, Anaheim, CA! Southern California "Meets" have been a wonderful part of the hobby for many years. Don't miss out! RSVP with Don. Happy collecting, Boomer
02/05/2023 Special thanks to Kelly B. for some amazing pictures and scans. Many of them are in the Disney 100 Years of Wonder Medallion Guide. By the way, do check out her FaceBook Group, Pressed Penny Exchange. Lots of pressed coin news, sales and trading going on there! Happy collecting, Boomer
02/04/2023 The Disney 100 Years of Wonder Medallion Guide is online. It's a mess and not polished yet, but why single out that one ParkPennies page? LOL. If you are collecting DLR medallions, we hope it will be a help. The guide covers 44 new medallions, 11 new machines, marquee images... Our thanks to Kelly B. , Kathy B., Ricky K., Jess T., Alex D. for images, scans and reports. Most rumors suggest more medallions and pressed coins are on the way. Check back often, we will post updates first on this news page. Don't forget the Disneyland Pressed Coin and Medallion Machine Location Page if you are going to or at the park. Happy collecting, Boomer.
01/29/2023 The Disneyland Pressed Coin and Medallion Machine Location Page has been updated with descriptions and locations of all Disneyland Resort medallion and coin press machines. I'm also writing up a dedicated Disney100 Year of Wonder Medallion Guide page that will be uploaded soon. For now, the Marquees and locations page offers small marquees that if clicked will open much larger marquee images with detailed medallion art for each location. Currently there are 12 medallion machines onstage. Eleven of them, 44 medallions, are new and themed Disney100 Years of Wonder.
The Pieces of Eight Pirate medallion set, The Main Street Penny Arcade Electrical Parade medallion set, and the Tomorrowland Attractions medallion set are all "off-stage". Some sources have rumored that these "retired" medallions *may* return after the Disney100 event has concluded, in maybe 18 months. As of 1/29/2023 the Star Wars set, guide numbers 14-17, is the only "original" medallion set still onstage. (View Disneyland Resort medallions in The Medallion Guide.) Updates to follow. If you spot a new machine, email Boomer. Happy collecting!
01/28/2023 Several ParkPennies visitors have mentioned that some medallion machines are out of order or out of medallions. Disneyland Cast Members do not service these machines. I'm guessing that whoever does support these machines is swamped and will eventually catch up. Happy collecting Boomer.
01/27/2023THREE MORE Medallion machines! Kelly B. (Pressed Penny Exchange on FaceBook, Scrapbooker23 on eBay) reports that there are another three medallion machines... one in each hotel! Updates to follow. Happy collecting, Boomer
01/27/2023EIGHT Medallion machines have been reported so far today. It will take some time to catch up with the guide listings and scans. But, we have the Disneyland Pressed Coin and Medallion Machine Location Page DRAFT COPY. Probably not yet complete or completely accurate. But, should be of help at the park. I would like to thank Kelly B. , Kathy B., Ricky K., Jess T., Alex D. and others for a massive number of new medallion machine reports and images. I'll sort them out a bit more overnight and post them tomorrow. But, for now here are some of the Marquees and locations, click on the marquee images to see larger images. NOTE: It was reported that the medallion machines were not accepting credit card payment today. My speculation is that the machines were not yet fully connected for payment processing. Hopefully this will be corrected soon. You may wish to bring cash to be on the safe side. Prices for at least some of the new medallions have increased to $6. each or $20.00 for four. Updates to follow. Happy collecting, Boomer
1/27/2023 100 Years medallion machine report and images courtesy of longtime collector and contributor to ParkPennies, Ricky K. This new machine is located at the Kingswell Camera Shop in Disney California Adventure. The seasonal penny press is missing. We will add scans of the new medallions to the Disneyland Resort Vended Medallions Guide soon. (For now, you may click the link to the Medallion Guide and then the click the marquee pictured there to see the medallion designs in close-up.) Updates to follow. Happy Collecting, Boomer.
01/25/2023 Given the closing of the WDW Splash Mountain attraction and eminent closure of the Disneyland attraction, I have updated the Splash Mountain Penny Press Page to include Splash Mountain themed coins of all types on a single page. Happy collecting, Boomer.
01/24/2023 Our thanks to Jimmy in Hong Kong for reporting these new coins at Hong Kong Disneyland. We will be updating the Hong Kong Disneyland pressed coin guides soon. Happy collecting, Boomer
01/14/2023 ParkPennies rumors state that there will be a new medallion vending machine planned as part of the San Fransokyo overlay in Disney California Adventure. We look forward to the first reports of the new machine and others that are already in the works. To view all the medallion vending machines currently at the Disneyland Resort and their locations, we offer the Disneyland Area Pressed Coin and Medallion Machines Location Page and for a listing, pictures and descriptions of all vending machine medallions ever issued at the DLR, we offer the ParkPennies Medallions Guide. Happy collecting, Boomer.
12/27/2022 Boomer hopes you might have a picture of the Disneyland Hotel Monorail pressed coin machine? Advanced collectors will recall it held the the DL0017 pressed coin. (Same as the Disneyland Resorts and Hotels DR0010.) As you may know, this old favorite single-play penny press was onstage for many, many years moving from inside the park to outside, from the old Disneyland Hotel breezeway to the Neon Cactus, then the Disneyland Fantasia Gift Shop... Boomer has already shared a picture of the marquee and the coin in the guides. But for some reason he apparently missed taking a picture of the machine &%#@! (Have you noticed that when I make a mistake, I use the third person like it wasn't me that did it? :-) Now that we are sprucing up the online guide pages, (I know about time. :-) a picture of the machine would really help. We do have a picture submitted by the well-known pressed coin collector, turned artist :-) Mark B. But... if you have another picture to share, please contact Boomer. You can make your Disneyland Hotel Monorail penny press machine image, with your named credit, a welcome immortal part of this 20+ year old guide! Happy collecting, Boomer and the folks at ParkPennies.
12/05/2022: Nothing new at the Disneyland Resort... But David of DavidsCoinTravels has some new pressed coin related videos at https://www.youtube.com/@davidscointravels. If you are not already a subscriber, do check them out. It's free to watch and / or subscribe! Happy collecting, Boomer.
11/15/2022 Our thanksto Kelly B. (Pressed Penny Exchange on FaceBook, Scrapbooker23 on eBay) for reporting a new Holiday themed vending-style penny press! It's onstage at the Kingswell Camera Shop in Disney California Adventure. We believe this set replaces the Frozen Press Coin Set Anna, Elsa, and Olaf guide numbers CA0282, CA0283 and CA0284 in machine #1. It appears the Frozen set has been retired. However in years past, sometimes Holiday sets shared machines with non-Holiday sets that returned after the Holidays. We will know for sure in January. Guide numbers for this new Holiday pressed penny set are CA0285, CA0286 and CA0287. The Disneyland Area Pressed Coin Machines Location Page has been updated. Happy collecting! Boomer.
10/30/2022 Added the longtime scarce, rumored "Let's Go Play" (Let's Have Fun) Disneyland Wannabe pressed coin set. The set is one of a few sets which we have recently confirmed or been given permission to fully list. These last few coins / coin sets will complete the inclusion of most all coins have had only simple guide placeholders due to "embargoes" or an unconfirmed rumor status. Happy collecting, Boomer.
10/17/2022 The last few challenging years have resulted in changes to both the hobby and many of the people in it. Because of these changes, descriptions and / or images of several coins that were rumored or known but "embargoed" now have been given permission to publish. We often mention such updates here on this news page. But, for the best listing of website changes, advanced collectors should check the Change Log page. (Which is permanently linked at the top of this news section.) Our thanks to the good folks that have shared their knowledge of unusual Disneyland pressed coins and history with us all. Happy collecting, Boomer.
10/13/2022 TWO NEW Medallion machines were reported! One set of four medallions is Tomorrowland Attractions themed and located in the Space Mountain exit, next to the penny press. A second medallion vending machine is located in Downtown Disney inside the Star Wars Trading Post! We will have pictures of the machines and medallions soon. Our thanks to Kelly B. (Pressed Penny Exchange on FaceBook, Scrapbooker23 on eBay) for this report and images. The Disneyland Pressed Coin and Medallion Machine Location Page has bee updated. [Descriptive edits 10/15] Happy Collecting! Boomer.
10/08/2022 We added a Nancy Wooten Tribute page today. It documents, for future generations, how well liked and respected she was and offers a sample of the many contributions she made to help make this such a wonderful hobby. The page will also be saved to the Internet Archive. Happy collecting, Boomer.
10/02/2022 Updated the Splash Mountain Mickey DL0277, DL0283, DL0344, DL0509 comparison page. The page dated back more than a decade when bandwidth and image quality were even worse than what you see here today. :-) The new images are LARGER and the DL0509, the last in the series, is more prominent. Happy collecting, Boomer.
10/02/2022 Many ParkPennies visitors were not awake at 3:50AM Sunday, October second. But, some were. :-) They were bidding on a DL0225 nickel. (See DL0225 Guide listing and Disneyland Nickel Comparisons detail page) I had to mention the auction because it was a week-long auction which started at $1.99 and ended at 3:53AM on a Sunday! Yes, 3:53AM on Sunday MORNING! Longtime collectors will recognize the DL0225 coin as "hard to find" and the coin auctioned was a nice looking example. But, still sometimes a collector with a sharp eye and some luck can pick up a scarce coin in an overlooked auction for a bargain price. So, Boomer had to watch the close of the auction! :-) No doubt many collectors did overlook the coin. But, by the end of the auction, five serious bidders had found the auction and made 29 bids. -See a screen shot of the bids, the timing of the bids and the closing price (less S/H and tax) for this Mickey Rays DL0225 pressed nickel auction close. If you are reading this, you are probably well aware that many of the classic, early Disneyland pressed coins have become scarce(er) as both new and old collectors seek coins to complete their collections. Today's coin values often reflect increased scarcity, competition and today's inflation. But, bargains are still out there and often longtime collectors will have coins for trade.
ParkPennies readers sometimes ask for help in finding key Disney pressed coins. Here are some of our suggestions: Boomer's favorite... trading coins! Meeting fellow collectors is one of the things that makes this hobby wonderful. We need not say more than... TEC is The Organization for pressed penny collecting.
Visit TEC The Elongated Collectors Web site. If you are looking to trade online, FaceBook Groups offer several pressed coin related communities that can be found by searching FB. Some groups of note are: Pressed Penny Exchange (A private group worth checking out), Pressed Penny Mafia (A private group worth checking out), Pressed Penny Collectors (A private group worth checking out), The Elongated Collectors aka TEC on FB (A private group worth checking out) and of course ParkPennies here or ParkPennies on FB :-) Lastly if you are looking for Disney pressed coins on eBay, here is a link to some eBay auctions by fellow ParkPennies collectors and how to add / link your auctions. (ParkPennies is a free non-commercial, ad-free hobbyist reference site by collectors and for collectors. -We do not charge for anything and we do not offer anything for sale.) Happy collecting, Boomer
09/26/2022 Walt Disney World pressed coin collectors know that the "Disney App" does have a search feature for coin press machines. But, the coin press "maps" are often in error with outdated sometimes missing machine locations and may not show how many machines are at a location or how many coins are in a machine. Need I mention this is a problem when you are in the park trying to press all the WDW coins for a collection? Thankfully, there's a great, free solution by DavidsCoinTravels on YouTube. David offers some excellent "Penny Maps" for the Walt Disney World Resort as well as other popular Florida Parks that you can view, print or download. (The DavidsCoinTravels Penny Maps and the excellent coin location and description pages at PressCoins.com are great compliments to each other.) We've added both links to our Walt Disney World Pressed Coins page. You may also want to bookmark these links on your smartphone so they're handy while you're in Florida. (Or the ParkPennies Disneyland Pressed Coin Location Page if you are visiting the Disneyland Resort. :-) Happy collecting, Boomer
09/23/2022 It has now been confirmed, thanks to Kelly B's help, that The Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout! pressed coins (CA0226, CA0227, and CA0228) have had their original stampbacks replaced. You may recall that after a long absence, The Guardians of the Galaxy machine was reported back on stage July 18, 2022 by Jeremy H. At the time, it was suspicioned that the obverse dies may have changed. Later suspicions were that maybe only the back dies had be replaced, which was confirmed today. Coins with new stampbacks are of course given new guide numbers. So, this gives the new reverse Guardians of the Galaxy coin set guide numbers CA279-281 and the new Frozen set will in turn have guide numbers CA0282-284. Updates to follow. Happy collecting, Boomer.
09/23/2022 Our thanks yet again to Kelly B. (Pressed Penny Exchange on FaceBook, Scrapbooker23 on eBay) for reporting today's new eight-play penny press machine. :-) It features a Space Mountain theme: Spaceman Donald; Mickey, Donald and Goofy in a Rocket; Mickey and Minnie in a Rocket; Spacemen Chip N Dale in Outer Space; Space Mountain Logo; Mickey in Outer Space; Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan (AKA Mike and Sully) in a Rocket and Mickey in a Space Suit Holding a Helmet. (DL0752-759) All stampbacks read: Disneyland® Park. Images, courtesy of Kelly B. Disneyland Area Pressed Coin Machines Location Page has been updated and the Disneyland Park Pressed Coin Guide will be updated soon. Happy collecting, Boomer
09/15/2022 Our thanks again to Kelly B. (Pressed Penny Exchange on FaceBook, Scrapbooker23 on eBay) for reporting yet another new penny press machine. This time, an eight-play pressed penny machine with a "it's a small world" theme. Coin images are: Dutch Girl on a Tulip, Hippo, Cowboy on Horse, Small World Facade, Polynesian Drummer, Maraca Player, Beefeater and Can Can Dancer. (DL0744-751) The stampbacks are all "Fantasy Land Disneyland". Images, courtesy of Kelly B. Disneyland Area Pressed Coin Machines Location Page will be updated soon and the Disneyland Park Pressed Coin Guide has been updated. You know, we have to admit, the new machines are introducing some nice designs! Stay tuned for updates. Happy collecting, Boomer
09/10/2022 Our thanks to Alex L. in Hong Kong for his most recent report of five Hong Kong Disneyland pressed coins! Alex not only reported them, but shared images, locations... plus notes on these new HKDL characters, LinaBell (The cleaver pink fox) and 'Olu Mel (The shy toy turtle) to the Hong Kong Disneyland Pressed Coin Guide. Happy collecting, Boomer.
09/05/2022 D23 pressed coins... No strong rumors of a D23 pressed coin set yet. We should have heard something by now if a set was planned. However, last time the D23 pressed penny set was supported by WDW. So, news may be slow. We'll post any significant status updates here. Happy collecting, Boomer
09/03/2022 Today I'd like to share my unsolicited enthusiasm for DividsCoinTravels YouTube channel. I'm a long time subscriber of this cool YouTube channel that features pressed coin and medallion focused videos for Walt Disney World, Disneyland, tourist spots, special events... Videos also include tips on storing, cleaning, displaying... Probably best to just check out his channel! :-) By the way, this week he added a video featuring a contest to win a pressed penny book! Do take a look you may want to subscribe too. It's free! Happy collecting, Boomer
08/13/2022 Per your requests, we added a lot of links to large image comparisons of the various Bear Country pressed pennies, DL0002, DL0002a, DL0006 and DN0005 to the Disneyland Pressed Coin Guides. It's a mess, but a happy mess with lots of BIG images. :-) Happy collecting, Boomer
08/04/2022 WOW! Once again, our thanks to Kelly B. (Pressed Penny Exchange on FaceBook, Scrapbooker23 on eBay). Kelly reports and shares images of a new Electric Light Parade medallion machine which was placed onstage at the Main Street Penny Arcade early this morning! Pictures to follow. Happy collecting! Boomer. [Edits / adds 8-06/2022]
7/27/2022 The new DL0733-740 Star Wars Pressed Penny Set has been added to the guides. Our thanks to Randy K. for reporting and sharing images of these coins for fast guide listing. Happy collecting, Boomer.
7/24/2022 Wow! Busy day today! Randy K. and Kelly B. just reported yet another new machine at Disneyland today! It's a new Coco three play coin press machine located on The Frontierland Bonanza Outfitters boardwalk, across from the Frontierland Shooting Gallery. Disneyland Pressed Coin Guide will be updated soon and I'll redo the Disneyland Area Pressed Coin Machines Location Page again! LOL Happy collecting! Boomer.
7/24/2022 Our thanks to Randy K. for his most welcome report of a NEW DL0733-740 eight play vending style penny press at the Startrader! The existing two classic quarter presses are still onstage too! Disneyland Pressed Coin Guide updates to follow, Disneyland Area Pressed Coin Machines Location Page should be updated today. Happy collecting, Boomer.
7/18/2022 Lots of small updates throughout the website. One change you may notice is the blue links now remain blue, nothing is broken. Well, at least that isn't broken. :-) (The change was made as some visitors thought only blue links were usable.) Updates are often initiated by visitor requests. We welcome your feedback. Happy collecting, Boomer
7/12/2022 Our thanks to fellow website visitors who have generously shared images of some very cool elongated coin collectibles. Just this week, we have added images of a Framed Cast Member 60th Anniversary coin set and a Framed Cast Member 60th Decades coin set. Very cool! As you may know, many images here were given by fellow collectors. So don't be shy... Your pictures, especially of early coin presses missing from the guides (or better images :-), would be a most welcome addition to this free, by collectors for collectors reference site. Let us know if you too would like to share some history. Happy collecting, Boomer at ParkPennies.com.
06/29/2022 Our thanks to a very long time ParkPennies contributors, Jeremy and Sophie H., for their heads up report. Today, they shared that the Guardians converted CA0226-228 coin press is still offstage. We heard before the pandemic that the Guardian coin dies, which date back to 2017, were showing their age and rolling short. Could be more than just regular maintenance? Maybe the machine has been offstage for new pressed coin designs? Happy collecting, Boomer
6/29/2022 A "Tim Prize Unassigned Mickey Rays" [Updated again 6/30/2022] pressed coin auction has caught the attention of many elongated coin collectors on FaceBook and eBay. The coin is being offered by Susan L., a FaceBook Pressed Penny Exchange member via this eBay auction. Collectors wanting to know more about this unusual coin's background, may find the ParkPennies article about the currently unassigned Centek Mickey Rays pressed coin of interest. We are happy to give courtesy mentions of highly unusual pressed coin auctions, just contact Boomer. Happy collecting, Boomer.
6/20/2022 Our thanks to the longtime ParkPennies contributors, Anastasia and Dave S. for sharing an update of the machines in Downtown Disney. Machine placement as listed in the ParkPennies Disneyland Area Pressed Coin Machines Location Page is correct. However, both the DL0150-152 Goofy's Kitchen and the DL0130-132 Ratatouille converted penny press machines near Goofy's Kitchen are currently marked out of order. Some collectors have mentioned that "out of order" may on occasion just refer to credit card acceptor issues. If so, the machines may still accept dollar bills. Something to keep in mind if you arrive at the park only to find a machine is marked out of order. Happy Collecting, Boomer
6/13/2022 My thanks to the most helpful Disney Collector, Randy K. for spotting a description error. I've corrected Medallion #2 from "Pirate Mickey I've Got Pirate Swagger" to "Pirate Minnie I've Got Pirate Swagger". I plead insanity. :-) Happy collecting, Boomer
6/6/2022Kelly B. and Mike R. report that a couple of coin presses are offstage. One converted penny machine at the Pieces of Eight Shop and the Avengers quarter press in DCA. Could be these machines are just out for maintenance? We will post here as soon as we have an update. There are some excellent new pressed coin videos from DavidsCoinTravels on YouTube on cleaning coins, unique pressed penny related items and WDW medallions... Happy Collecting, Boomer.
Nancy Wooten
October 8, 1946 - June 2, 2022 Image John and Nancy Wooten 2005
6/2/2022 With great sadness, we heard of Nancy Wooten's passing today. As you may know, Nancy was a champion of the hobby and a great friend to many of us. I was blessed to have known her and benefited from her most welcome advice and knowledge for more than 20 years. If you search Nancy Wooten's name here, you'll see just a peek into the many contributions that she made just to this one website. Her list of good deeds, volunteer work, her contributions to TEC as a past President and outstanding TEC member, her support of the the hobby via online BBS and Groups... would fill pages. Our thoughts and prayers are with Nancy's family. Her passing is a great loss to hobby and she is missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests we make donations to our local animal shelters in memory of Nancy. TEC plans to celebrate Nancy's life and her impact on our hobby in an upcoming issue of The TEC News. Boomer
5/23/2022 Our thanks to the longtime ParkPennies contributor, Jeremy H. for reporting a location change and location picture for the DL0633-635 Star Wars pressed quarter machine. The new location is a move from inside the Star Trader to an outside location toward the Space Mountain exit. The machine is still a "Classic, press you own coin" machine. We have updated the Disneyland Area Pressed Coin Machines Location Page. Happy collecting, Boomer.
5/06/2022 A newDT0008 Don Cade Business Card coin type was added to the guides, a Israeli One Agora. The coin was a gift to TEC members in this quarter's newsletter. Here is a guide link to this unique DT0008I Israeli One Agora coin. (Many ParkPennies visitors are TEC Members. If you haven't joined yet, do click this link to learn more about TEC, The Elongated Collectors Club.)
4/26/2022 Given the trend and status of the Disneyland Resort pressed coin machines, we look forward to filling in the last of the Disneyland Resort prototype coins. It will take time before the ParkPennies.com Disneyland Prototype Coin Guide is "closed" or "definitive". However, some images and confirmations of previously rumored coins have come in recently. We also anticipate additional reports / confirmations of coins we have so far noted and archived as rumored over the years. If you have news to share, please contact us anony-mousely :-) if you wish. Happy collecting, Boomer.
04/22/2022 Our thanks to Alex D. a longtime contributor to ParkPennies.com, for reporting the new location for the old Splash Mountain penny press. Alex spotted the machine in the tunnel at the very end of the Splash Mountain exit. (The old location of the machine before it was moved to the Winnie The Pooh Gift Shop boardwalk.) We've updated the Disneyland Area Pressed Coin Machines Location Page. Happy collecting, Boomer
03/16/2022 Our thanks to longtime ParkPennies.com contributor Cathy P. (eBayer read2gether) for reporting that the Disneyland Medallion Machinewas up and running last night. Happy collecting, Boomer
03/12/2022 Our thanks to Jeremy H. for his heads up on the new Disneyland medallion machine. The machine was (still) out of order Saturday night. We know many readers are looking forward to purchasing these new collectibles. It could be a simple set up issue with the new greatly anticipated (and probably heavily used) machine. Sadly, we do not know of a dependable way to check the machine status before visiting the park, paying admission, parking... If you know of a way to check machine status before visiting the park, please let us know. We have added the medallion machine location to the Disneyland Area Pressed Coin Machines Location Page and anticipate more medallion machines in the future. [edit: Although these medallions are some of the same designs issued at WDW, we hope there will be resort specific medallions in the future.] Happy collecting, Boomer
03/08/2022 Our thanks to Don C. and Michael H. for reporting a new set of pressed coins at Disneyland! The DL0639-641 Pirates of the Caribbean set of three pressed pennies was a carry-over set of coin dies that didn't press all that well before the machine was converted to a vending-style machine. So, this update to the pre-pandemic coin set will be welcomed by many collectors. Michael H. kindly sent some pictures of the new DL0730-732 Pirates of the Caribbean pressed pennies. The location is unchanged at the Pieces of Eight Gift Shop, New Orleans Square. We'll have guide listings and scans of the coins added soon. The Disneyland Area Pressed Coin Machines Location Page is already updated. Happy collecting! Boomer.
03/06/2022: Per Alex D's suggestion, given that the DL0592-DL0594 Small World pressed quarter set was taken offstage during the COVID-19 closure and has not returned, we assume it to be retired and have so noted the guides. Happy Collecting, Boomer.
3/02/2022 Sadly, I had to re-write the Holiday Nickel Collection intro to reflect what appears to be the end of the long-standing and beloved Disneyland Resort pressed nickel collections. -Boomer.
2/25/2022 Per a request, I added some extra pages of "Snow White Premiered 1937" pressed coin types for interested advanced collectors. Please forgive the informal page scans for now. I'll try to upgrade the pages to individual scans in time. (I try to add additional coin types etc. when you ask. So, don't be shy. :-) Happy Collecting, Boomer.
2/12/2022 We have completed the most recent California Adventure Guide by adding scans and descriptions of the coins to the Rushin' River eight-play penny press listing. Happy collecting, Boomer.
2/08/2022 I just viewed a very cool collection of Disney Penny Books at ZZZCoins.com. If you are as interested in penny collecting books as I am, check them out. They also have LOTS of pressed coins for sale. Happy collecting, Boomer
2/05/2022 My thanks to longtime ParkPennies contributor, Alex D. for his help in correcting a bunch of typos! I'm not sure who did them. ;-) Happy collecting, Boomer.
2/03/2022 Our thanks to Kelly B. (Pressed Penny Exchange on FaceBook, Scrapbooker23 on eBay) for sending some excellent pictures of the newest machine, the Rushin' River eight-play penny press in California Adventure. We should have coin scans for the CA0271-278 machine soon. Happy collecting, Boomer
1/25/2022 Our thanks to Don C. for reporting a Disney themed coin, the 2007 CBFC European Tour Scrooge McDuck pressed cent. This coin will be added to the ParkPennies listings soon. Happy collecting, Boomer
1/22/22 Our thanks to a fellow collector and longtime ParkPennies contributor, Alex D. for updating the location of the Splash Mountain coin press to a spot next to the other coin press machines on the porch outside of Pooh Corner. The Disneyland Area Pressed Coin Machines Location Page has been updated. Happy collecting, Boomer
1/17/2022 Kelly B. reports that the Buzz Lightyear Toy Story 8-play penny machine was working great today! Happy collecting, Boomer.
1/14/2022 Our thanks to Kelly B. (Pressed Penny Exchange on FaceBook, Scrapbooker23 on eBay). Kelly shared some excellent machine pictures that you will see in the guides soon. She also reported that the new 8-design Toy Story coin press was sadly pressing coins off-center today. Hopefully it will be up and running soon. Happy collecting, Boomer.
1/13/2022 Our thanks to longtime collector Cathy P. (Read2Gether on eBay) for reporting the new Toy Story pressed penny eight design machine was up and running again on 1/12/2022. Happy collecting, Boomer
1/11/2022 Our thanks to longtime ParkPennies contributors and pressed coin collectors, Jeremy H. and Ricky K. for their separate and most welcome reports and images today documenting that the pressed penny machine at "Buzz Lightyear" Store Command is currently out of order. One visitor said that the sound the machine is making may indicate that the machine's hopper had run out of coins to press. Hopefully it will be up and running soon. Boomer
1/11/2022 Jessica T. was most helpful by confirming that two of the last traditional coin press machines at the Disneyland Resort, the DL0657, DL0658, DL0659 and DL0666, DL0667, DL0668, known as the Little Green Men Store Command
/ "The Buzz Lightyear Ride exit" machines are missing. We assume that these two machines were retired at the same time the new 8-play vending-style machine was placed onstage. We have updated the guides and the Disneyland Area Pressed Coin Machines Location Page. Boomer
