Our Hong Kong Disneyland (HKDL) penny press machine reference guides are offered as an aid in attributing Hong Kong Disneyland Magical Coin pressed "pennies". Magical coins were first issued on-stage in 2005 and available to the general public via Magical Coin Press machines, at The Hong Kong Disneyland ® Resort. This HKDL pressed penny guide is divided into manageable sections by the year of issue. Hong Kong Disneyland Magical Coins make for a fun collection, and offer a manageable size as new issues are not nearly as common as those in Tokyo Disneyland or Disneyland Anaheim. As you can see, if you wish to only collect Hong Kong pressed coin souvenirs or all the pressed souvenirs from all of the Disneyland Parks, it can be a lot of fun!

HKDL Hong Kong Disneyland Magical Coins are called "pressed pennies" but, they are really pressed on machine vended blanks or planchets via otherwise traditional "penny press machines". The machine vended planchets make for a very clean, high quality souvenir. As you can see from the images below, these planchets are all equal in size and appearance, and do not suffer as much from maintenance issues, governmental changes or regulations. Non-native planchet examples (Nickels etc.) have been reported. However, only native park planchet issues are listed in our guides at this time.

Note from Boomer: Of all the ParkPennies elongated coin guides, Hong Kong Disneyland is by far the most challenging for us to maintain. Given the distance to Hong Kong Disneyland from The ParkPennies.com Corporate Center, (A closet in our humble home, located deep in an undisclosed canyon hideout near Disneyland, Anaheim.) and the obvious fact that we are challenged when trying to communicate even in English, we are sometimes late in discovering and listing new coin issues in Hong Kong. Tip from fellow collector Wan Lin in Hong Kong 4/2014: The Octopus Card is now accepted by all HKDL penny press machines. Purchasing / loading an Octopus Card before you visit the resort is a great way to avoid the stress of locating enough change for the many HKDL penny presses.

Note: In the early years, "Pressed Pennies" From Hong Kong Disneyland were pressed by traditional, Eurolink Designs Inc. elongated coin machines using copper planchets. No pennies were sacrificed in the making of pressed "pennies".
