Disneyland Park Presents...
Elongated Quarters!

Classic Mickey Mouse elongated quarter. Originally located at Teddi Barra's Swingin' Arcade, back in Bear Country, later called Critter Country. The very classic icon of a pressed quarter, the Disneyland Hotel and Monorail, DL0084. Originally located at Teddi Barra's Swingin' Arcade, back in Bear Country, later called Critter Country. Disneyland castle pressed quarter! Originally located at Teddi Barra's Swingin' Arcade, back in Bear Country, later called Critter Country.

1996 was another great year for Disneyland pressed coin machines. The now well established penny press machines and the nearly new nickel press machine welcomed a quarter press! The themes and engraving were again, very nice. Eurolink's Jimmy Vargas's engraved them in nicely done "3-D" relief. Many collectors were attracted to the new Disney pressed coin denomination. But, they did cost a dollar each, twice the cost of a pressed penny, if you include the cost of the pressed quarter. And, they didn't fit well in the two inch by two inch holders so many of the Advanced Collectors used to hold the coins in their collections... But, they were big, shiny, offered a big picture of Mickey, the Disneyland Hotel with the monorail, the Disneyland Castle and cost only a dollar! Gotta have one! Er ah... three! Originally located at Teddi Barra's Swingin' Arcade, back in Bear Country, later called Critter Country.

Over all these years, the cost of a pressed penny has stayed at only 51 cents, nickels at 80 cents and pressed quarters at one dollar. Not a bad price for a souvenir that can last a lifetime. Some might say they are one of the best values in souvenirs anywhere, especially at Disneyland. Happy Collecting, Boomer

Editor's note: We are often reminded that the preferred numismatic term is "Elongated Coins". However, as the rebellious, risk taking, devil may care ParkPennies.com contributors that we are, temptation often gets the better of us. As a result, you may see the more casual, terms like: stamped coins, pressed coins, pressed nickels, pressed dimes, pressed quarters, smashed pennies, flattened pennies, crushed pennies, squashed pennies, rolled pennies, mashed pennies, stamped pennies, smushed pennies, stretched pennies, memory pennies, keepsake pennies, flattened pennies, and souvenir coin medallions to describe these fun pressed coin souvenirs. :-) Here are some pages about the often asked questions of How many pressed coins are at Disney? and How much do pressed coins cost? Just for fun, here is a page with a bit of a different take on Pressed Coins Facts and Fiction with tips on how different coins press, cool pressed coin jewelry, early penny presses... Happy Collecting! Boomer and the folks at ParkPennies.com :-)
