Cast Membership Has Its Privileges...
Pressed Coins!

Pirates of the Caribean Cast Member coin CM0005The "CM" Disneyland Cast Member and Special Event Pressed Coin Guide includes all known pressed coins / tokens that were officially offered to guests of special events or to Cast Members.

These coins were not available to regular admission Disneyland Resort guests, only Cast Members or special admission event guests. Advanced collectors may also want to include the extremely hard to find DS Disneyland Arcade Shop coins as a key addition to the Cast Member issues listed in this guide section.

If you are just starting to collect Disneyland pressed coins, do keep in mind that because of the limited distribution of the elongated coins and tokens in this group, the collection will not be as easy to complete as say The Lands Collection. However, many non-collectors that have attended the special events or worked at the park and earned or have been awarded these special coins, may appreciate that these bits of history are documented here. What a great group of coins to collect or to inspire a conversation about Disneyland history, special events, Cast Members or of course, pressed coins!

Happy collecting,
Boomer and The Folks at ParkPennies.com

CM0001 Retired Ron Dominguez pressed penny image.
CM0001 Retired Ron Dominguez pressed penny image. RON DOMINGUEZ, Ronald K. Dominguez portrait, DISNEYLAND ®, star border. Coin commemorates Ron Dominguez’s retirement August 31, 1994 and was the first coin ever made to celebrate the retirement of a Cast Member. For a short time around Mr. Dominguez's retirement, Cast Members could press this coin for free backstage. No reverse. The number of coins pressed can not be determined because the machine was free to Cast Members back stage and not metered. However, a quantity of zinc cents were pressed in advance for distribution at the retirement party. Reports to ParkPennies.com suggest the die was presented to Mr. Dominguez as one of his retirement gifts. A red handkerchief, signifying The Order of the Red Handkerchief was also presented to retirement attendees and is sometimes found accompanying the Cast Member pressed penny. Editor's note: We are often reminded that the preferred numismatic term is "Elongated Coins". However, as the rebellious, risk taking, devil may care ParkPennies.com contributors that we are, temptation often gets the better of us. As a result, you may see the more casual, terms like: stamped coins, pressed coins, pressed nickels, pressed dimes, pressed quarters, smashed pennies, flattened pennies, crushed pennies, squashed pennies, rolled pennies, mashed pennies, stamped pennies, smushed pennies, stretched pennies, memory pennies, keepsake pennies, flattened pennies, and souvenir coin medallions to describe these fun pressed coin souvenirs. :-) Here are some pages about the often asked questions of How many pressed coins are at Disney? and How much do pressed coins cost? Just for fun, here is a page with a bit of a different take on Pressed Coins Facts and Fiction with tips on how different coins press, cool pressed coin jewelry, early penny presses... Happy Collecting! Boomer and the folks at ParkPennies.com :-)
