Disneyland's Toy Story pressed coins, Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Sarge, and The Little Green Men have been very popular Disneyland souvenirs. The first Toy Story pressed penny machine, 1996 - 2004, held coin numbers DL0077 Woody, DL0078 Buzz Lightyear, and DL0079 Sarge. After spending a short time in Tomorrowland, the three die Eurolink Design Inc. machine was moved to the Main Street Penny Arcade until its retirement in 2004. Then in 2005, the Astro Blasters Toy Story penny press machine, was appropriately placed in The Little Green Men Store Command / Exit to Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters Attraction (Formerly the Premier Shop).
Before the close of the 60th Diamond Celebration, a 60th Anniversary pressed coin machine was moved from the Starcade Gift Shop to the Little Green Men Command Center. With the close of that celebration late in September of 2016, that second coin press machine was removed from the Command Center and then returned on October 26, 2016 with a new set of pressed coins. So, at that time, there were two separate sets of Astro Blaster pressed coins. Each machine offering the same theme and characters, as shown by the marquess and pressed coins below. However, the older set was old school hand engraved and the new set done via new high-tech high detail laser engraving. Over all these years, to most passers by, the machine(s) looked as if they had been unchanged from the very first day they were placed onstage in March of 2005. But, as you can see by the chart below, there have been many small changes over the years. Variations like these are a fun challenge for advanced collectors and a specialty of ParkPennies.com.
Thousands of pressed penny collectors (and unsuspecting soon to be pressed penny collectors) have passed by the Astro Blasters Toy Story penny press machine most every day for several years now. The casual collector will probably only want a single coin to remind them of their magical day at Disneyland with friends and family. However, Advanced Collectors might want every variation of every coin die. No matter if you press them all or just one, they can make a great souvenir of a fun day... A Disneyland keepsake that can last for several lifetimes in a scrap book or photo album... and at a cost of just 51 cents each!

NOTE: You may have noticed that because reverse "dies" and coin dies are different in many ways, they are treated differently here at ParkPennies. Guides confirm that unlike coin dies, reverse “dies” often share a single design / artwork "type" pressed onto the reverse of many different elongated coins. When these reverse "dies" are compared to others of the same design "type", often there are slight differences as each is etched or engraved individually. To mix things up even more, it is possible for a set of three nearly identical reverse "dies" engraved on a back shaft and paired with particular coin dies, to be accidentally or intentionally rotated when the penny press mechanism is serviced or repaired. And even more permutations are introduced if a replacement back shaft is installed with facsimiles of the original reverse engravings. Lastly, reverse engravings are also prone to change in appearance over time as they wear, "sink" etc., which can add variations to the same back stamp engravings over time. As you can see, these reverse characteristics could make for a lot of “different” stampbacks of the same design "type".
Therefore, our guide attributions give small design variations or changes less weight when observed in reverse "dies" vs. obverse coin dies. A good example would be the many 50th Anniversary stampbacks. There are as many individual reverse "dies" or engravings as there are coins in the 50th set, each with slight variances in placement, depth, and texture. Yet all share the same artwork / design, i.e. without intentional differences in design and are considered one “generic type” for the purposes of listing in this guide.
