Star Wars Gift Card Tokens

Batuuan Spira Gift Card Tokens have been offered at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts. These heavy, thick metal tokens were issued in folding envelopes / sleeves and available for purchase inside the Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge "land" also known by some as Black Spire Outpost or Batuu. Initial Spira were limited to one per guest. Later on limits were relaxed. The earliest Spira credits token, the Type I, was bronze or brass in color with a tan colored sleeve or envelope that read in Aurebesh* "Spira BSO". (The in-universe for the area of Galaxy's Edge is the Black Spire Outpost, on the planet Batuu.) The Type II Spira version was a nickel or silver color with an black envelope / sleeve that in Aurebesh* "May your deals go well.".

A Spira back story presented for these rechargeable gift cards supported a "local currency exchange" theme, so purchases made in Batuu could be made in Spira, not earthly dollars. (However the cards were also honored any place where Disney gift cards were accepted.) Originally, guests could purchase Spira gift card with a minimum $100.00 balance in "credits", no tax or fee. Later, a fee of $4.99 was added to the purchase price. In keeping with our by collectors and for collectors, these "redeemable tokens" were added to the ParkPennies Guides by popular request.

Update 8/2023: Our thanks to Jeremy M. for reporting that the Disneyland Resort recently updated the silver Spira gift token packaging. Although the token itself is unchanged, the 2023 sleeve in Aurebesh* now reads "May you have the better hand". See Type III, below.

Type III & IV

Star Wars Gift Card Tokens

The "Type III" Spira gift card / token was introduced to the Disneyland and Walt Disney World Theme Parks in August of 2023. It is the same as the "Type II" with the exception of the front cover inscription which was changed from "May your deals go well" to "May you have the better hand".

The "Type IV" Spira gift card / token was introduced to the Disneyland and Walt Disney World Theme Parks in the first week of May of 2024. The new metal gift card's design was unchanged, except for color which is now copper color verses the "Type I" gold color and "Type II" and "Type III" silver color. The envelope is also unchanged from the "Type III" except for color which is now dark brown verses the "Type I" tan and the "Type II & III" black colored envelopes. Inscriptions remain unchanged since the "Type II" and still reads "May you have the better hand" on the outside jacket and "Disney gift card" on the inside, in Aurebesh* of course. Cost is also unchanged at $4.99 plus the minimum $100.00 loaded on the gift card.
