The DNS Disneyland Neverland Supplement includes only the very scarce engraver's "proof", "engravers' proofs" or "progressive rolls" of unlisted Disneyland prototype elongated coin designs. Progressive proofs of coins listed in other guides are included as part of the respective coin listing. Coins / dies listed in this supplemental guide were pressed as intermediate proofing steps in the process of engraving a coin die for which there is no known completely engraved coin example.

The discovery of these intermediate engravings may hopefully lead to the discovery of completed coins. However, until a finished coin is found, we can only speculate as to whether these examples of progressive pressings ever led to a finished, list-able coin or the engraving work was abandoned before completion. (Some reasons for terminating an engraving before completion may be: Cancellation or change of the design, realization of a miss-matched die type e.g. cent-sized verses quarter-sized etc., an uncorrectable engraving error, a design that isn't working or could be improved, etc.) That said, it is not unusual for perfectly designed and executed coin dies to be proofed before the final touches are added. So, if / when a completed example of a partially completed coin die listed in this DNS Prototype Supplemental Guide is found, the qualifying finished coin / coin die will then be listed in the appropriate ParkPennies Disneyland Pressed Coin Guide.

Happy Collecting,
Boomer ParkPennies

SEASON'S GREETINGS, 2007 on left, Mickey wearing a Santa hat with a bag of gifts over his shoulder, DISNEYLAND ® RESORT, © DISNEY, no border, nicely hand engraved image. The DNS0001 coin shown logically dates from mid-2007 and was first reported in January of 2019. As are the other two examples in this set, the DNS0001 is pressed on Tokyo Disneyland Resort type of nickel-plated planchet. Large soft copper based planchets like these are sometimes The onstage DL0423 Happy New Year Minnie Mouse 2008 pressed coin. used by engravers for "proofing" as their engraving work progresses. No reverse. This image differs from the well-known onstage DL0422 in several ways. The most obvious differences between the DL0422 and the DNS0001 are that the DNS0001 engraving is incomplete e.g. Mickey Mouse is missing the stitching on his glove and the "Season's Greetings" inscription appears to be only etched at this step, features that are prominent on the DL0422 onstage pressed coin. Also, this DNS0001 progress proof coin image is slightly larger than the onstage DL0422 version of this design. Several additional small variations between the two engravings can be seen on close inspection such as lettering etc. Reported anony-mousely to ParkPennies in early January of 2018.
