The Disneyland Haunted Mansion Pressed QUARTERS!

The Disneyland Haunted Mansion pressed quarters or elongated coins make for a fun "pressed penny" collection. They are vended from the same squished quarter press machine that vends Nightmare Before Christmas elongated quarters during the Haunted Mansion Holiday Event. The heavily (darkly) themed coin presser is mounted inside a coffin styled case or would that be a casket? The imposing quarter press serves as a seasonal NBC Haunted Mansion Holiday quarter press for about two months each year and a Haunted Mansion themed press for the balance of the year. So, there are plenty of very spooky pressed quarters with which to build one ghastly collection!

The Haunted Mansion pressed quarters even with the NBC pressed quarter collection added isn't large. However, the number of coins seems to be growing as is the number of people collecting them. Matter of fact, for many members of these collecting groups, pressing a set of the special, "Haunted Quarters" has become a yearly tradition.

Here is what I think is a very cool three ghost prototype coin. Our thanks to the kind ParkPennies visitor that offered to share it (and a few others below) with us all. It's the DN0095 Haunted Mansion Caretaker Goofy Prototype Pressed Quarter. Vertical pressed quarter image. This quarter set replaced the DL465-467 Haunted Mansion quarters which did not return after the DL0512-514 2011 set of NBC quarters were retired. First on-stage 1/25/12 as the DL0518. On about 7/05/12, the stampbacks for this set of pressed quarters were rotated for the first time. The reverse on this coin was changed from Phineas Queeg to Gus Gracey retiring the DL0518 and making the DL0525. The machine returned in Mid-January of 2018 with a video marquee and a second rotation (the third pairing) of the back dies changing the Gus Gracey reverse to Ezra Dobbins and creating the DL0678.

Please note that the earliest versions of the Haunted Mansion 50th Anniversary set, the DL0702, DL0703 and DL0704, have stampbacks that are slightly off-center and are oriented in the same way as the obverse of the coin. The later versions (post February 21, 2020) of these coins, the DL0708, DL0709 and DL0710, feature a well-centered reverse that is opposite the orientation of the obverse. Or as Boomer is hopelessly trying to say, "If the front and slightly off-center reverse are right side up when the coin is rotated horizontally, side to side, it's the DL0702, DL0703, or DL0704. But.... if the front and well-centered reverse are right side up when the coin is rotated vertically, end over end, it's the DL0708, DL0709 and DL0710 set.
