The Disneyland
Pirate Boat Lucky Coin

The White Star Chicken of the Sea Pirate Ship Lucky Coin or Tuna Boat Tokens brings back fond memories for a great many early Disneyland visitors. You know, way back in the day when you might see Walt in The Park, have a leisurely lunch out by the Pirate Ship, maybe find a Lucky Coin? Nowadays, if you find one of these scarce Pirate Ship medallions, you truly are lucky! :-) It seems they are getting harder and harder to find all the time. But, maybe they are worth the search. Measuring about 30mm in diameter, they make a good-sized souvenir, a great collectible, and they are old by Disneyland standards. I've heard rumors that this coin is nearly as old as Boomer himself... er ah myself? Issued in the 1950's, but, surely before 1969... People say they were part of a Chicken of the Sea promotion. As some readers may remember, the Chicken of the Sea Pirate Ship restaurant was opened to Disneyland Park guests from mid-1955 to 1969 when the White Star sponsorship ended and "The Chicken of the Sea Pirate Ship and Restaurant" became "Captain Hook’s Galley". Even today, it's still the "Old Tuna Boat" to some old timers! :-) By the early 1980's I remember looking up and seeing the Pirate Ship was gone?! But, I can still hear the radio slogan... What's the best tuna? Chicken of the Sea! And, I'll bet if you are visiting this page, you may remember the Chicken of the Sea Tuna Burgers too? You may also be interested in our Piece of Eight Pirates of the Caribbean Doubloon Stamper page? Happy collecting, Boomer.
