Today, do to the extreme increase in the number of new pressed pennies issued by the Tokyo Disneyland park, there are many more fun collecting opportunities. Collections can be as challenging as you want. Tokyo Disneyland pressed penny collections can be just
the early years, just
Tokyo DisneySea, just
prototypes, just a favorite character, theme, etc. One of our favorite sets to collect is the
coin of the month set. The coin of the month series started back in 2004, at the Tokyo DisneySea Park and became super popular. Before long, a coin of the month machine was added at Tokyo Disneyland Park, then another! Each one of the three penny press machines offers one new coin each month. So, over a year's time, a set of 12 matching coins is issued by each machine, like clockwork. Each penny press set is a great collection on its own. So, please do take a look at all the
Tokyo Disneyland coin of the month collections.
It has been great fun building this Tokyo Disneyland "Pressed Penny" Guide for the past 15+ years. For most of those years, ParkPennies.com was the sole guide to the TDR coins, especially the earliest coins. Over the years, both the popularity and the number of coins issued by the Tokyo Disneyland Resort have skyrocketed. With the growing popularity of collecting TDR pressed coins, we have welcomed fellow collectors contributions to our guides. (Especially given we are located in California, USA, a very long drive from Japan!) Thankfully, our number one contributor and good friend, Kuniaki Hiraki in Japan, built an excellent web site dedicated to TDR pressed coins. So, for Tokyo Disneyland Coins from 2012 forward, please consult
Kuniaki Hiraki's web site in Tokyo Japan directly. He is an avid collector, very knowledgeable, close the Tokyo Disneyland Resort, and has been able to handle the extreme number of newly issued TDR pressed coins. We will carry on with
Tokyo Disneyland News, maintain our extensive
Tokyo Disneyland Guides from 1996-2011, and sharpen our strong focus on our first love,
Disneyland USA elongated coins.
