For a time, this was one of the machines that were moved out to the walkways before the park opened and taken in after closing. The placement of this machine during that time was in front of Teddy Barra's, near the gift shop. Later this single die machine moved to a permanent location inside Teddy Barra's. Off stage circa 1995. (This Disneyland pressed coin number made with the possibly now canceled #DLP0013.0.0 obverse elongated coin die in its original "0" state / variation, paired with a blank "0" reverse coin die.) This classic single die penny press machine was often found rolled out into the area between Teddy Barra's Swingin' Arcade and Splash Mountain in Bear Country / Critter Country. The 3-Play DLR Splash Mountain Penny Press
A Show, Souvenir and Memory for Only 50 Cents!

This Splash Mountain penny press was
Disneyland Resort Cast Member Designed and Created

In March of 2005, the Disneyland Electro Mechanical Shop Cast Members presented this amazing Splash Mountain penny press to the guests of the Disneyland Resort. This three-design machine replaced the original single-design penny press with three new coins and a neat show. Guests could hear the laughs, screams, watch their own penny fall down through the briar patch and splash into the coin tray. To this old Disneyland fan, it's "extra" things like this that make Disneyland extra fun and special.

Not long ago, this penny press machine was mentioned on the Disneyland Arcade Shop web site. Ever since, readers have asked about it, hoping for any news, even a Briar Patch rumor about this Splash Mountain penny press. Now it’s here and complete with a miniature Splash Mountain inside the machine!

Some guests have said that it’s "A machine like one you might see in a collection of unique antique arcade games". A good percentage of the guests, that voiced their opinions, appreciated the extensively themed machine. Also an "old timer" was happy to see the park bring back the Disneyland themed arcade games of the past. One person thought that it must be a part of the sprucing up of the park for the 50th Anniversary. While people admired, talked and pontificated about the machine, Boomer, just kept pressing pennies. Pressed Penny Smiley

One thing is for sure, it’s one of those interesting arcade attractions that causes people to stop and take a look and a listen. Yes, your penny not only takes a ride through the miniature Splash Mountain inside the penny press but you hear the sounds of the happy riders aboard on their way to be pressed. So why are the riders so happy on their way to possible disaster at the bottom of the waterfall? Boomer thinks it’s a Splash Mountain thing.   Pressed Penny Smiley

This machine is located at the exit to the Splash Mountain ride. (You can access the machine just inside the exit without riding Splash Mountain if you’d like.) You can’t miss it and if there is a line at the machine, it’s worth the wait. If you are short of change, there is a change machine at Pooh Corner, just outside the exit and across the courtyard.

Hey! I almost forgot to mention. You get a terrific smashed penny souvenir too! Three to choose from, but I’ll bet you’ll want them all. They are one of the best souvenirs at Disneyland and only 50 cents!

On October 1, 2023 the machine while holding the DL0509-511 set of Splash Mountain pressed coins was reported as offstage and in our opinion, retired.

For the new March of 2005 DL0277-279 pressed coin set (and other coins to follow), Disneyland awed guests with this new three play coin press machine. Themed and built by Disneyland Cast Members.

DN0047 Brer Bear CRITTER COUNTRY Prototype Poo Pressed PennyDN0047 Brer Bear Critter Country Prototype Pressed Penny. DISNEYLAND ® PARK Brer Bear CRITTER COUNTRY © DISNEY, "e" for Eurolink Design Corporation replaces the dot nearest the center of the gripper slot, classic bead or dot border. Brer Bear appears to be sitting on an invisible log. This unusual pose, gives him an odd squatting profile. Therefore, he was nicknamed "Poo Bear" by a well-known Disney elongated coin collector and her daughter who we won't mention because we don't want to embarrass Nancy and Wendy Wooten. :-) Circa February, 2005. Not closely similar to any other elongated coin, prototype or onstage. In late 2021, examples of this coin with both large and small print dot matrix style "Disneyland Park" stampbacks were reported. (No Disney elongated coins pressed before 2004 are known to have stampbacks.) (This Disneyland pressed coin number made with the possibly now canceled #DNP0044.0.0 obverse elongated coin die in its original "0" state / variation, paired with a blank "0" reverse coin die.) DISNEYLAND® Park, Brer Bear, fox and rabbit in log vehicle. © DISNEY dot border, "e" for Eurolink Design Corporation replaces the dot nearest the center of the gripper slot, dot border, image is only outlined. The engravers work on this die is not as "three dimensional" as the onstage DL0278 / DL0345 examples which feature nearly the same art work with high relief, little outlining, and back stamps. In late 2021, the first stampbacked examples were reported featuring a faint dot matrix style "Disneyland Park" and also "Splash Mountain" in both narrow and block script like the DL0278. (This Disneyland pressed coin number made with the possibly now canceled #DNP0045.0.0 obverse elongated coin die in its original "0" state / variation, paired with a blank "0" reverse coin die.)
