The Adobe Genuine Software Challenge

For the past 20 years or so this website has been dependent on very costly, critical software provided by Adobe Inc. which we "licensed perpetually" / paid for once, good for life.  In the early 2000s, we used the Adobe CS2 suite of software which we replaced with the Adobe CS6 suite of software in 2014. (CS6 is no longer available. It has been replaced by "Adobe Creative Cloud", a professional quality and cost online subscription service which is very strongly promoted by Adobe Customer Care.) Both of our software suites, CS2 and CS6 were appropriately registered with Adobe via our Adobe ID, vetted and deemed "genuine" (not counterfeit or "illegal") by Adobe, at the time of purchase and after. Please refer to  image #1   and   image #2

The software was installed in 2014 and all was well for about four years. Then starting in 2018 there were bumps in the road and Adobe Customer Care resolved them.

However, in November of 2023, an Adobe software pop-up told us our software had been revoked(!) I immediately contacted Adobe and was told they have now retroactively deemed the use our previously validated as genuine CS6 software, "illegal" and we should subscribe to the Adobe Creative Cloud as a replacement.

November 2023 UPDATE: I have reached out to Adobe Customer Care so we can continue www.ParkPennies.com updates and maintenance. (As it stands, our software will stop working in early December.) So far, I have been unable to initiate a productive dialog or advance toward a resolution. Adobe Customer Care has told me they do not have the option to generate a new serial key or reactivate the old serial key. So, their responses have been more of a hard sell for us to pay for the Creative Cloud subscription service rather than help. We have requested, repeatedly, that the case be escalated to a person with the power to help. We feel a company as respected as Adobe Inc. will be concerned with the way this case has been handled and see that we have been reasonable. I have asked only that Adobe restore the "key" to software they assured us was genuine at the time of purchase and after.

I will keep you updated via our ParkPennies.com FaceBook Page or contact Boomer for updates. (If the website is down or becomes out of date.)

If you can assist with the restoration of our software key, please contact Boomer.

History, if you have not fallen asleep yet? :-)

When we were about to replace our CS2 software with the newer CS6, we contacted a very helpful Adobe Twitter representative. He said Adobe offers only downloads now, but we could still get a disk-copy from a reseller. I asked if there was a way we could be sure it was genuine. He replied "Yup" and provided a link to http://blogs.adobe.com/photoshop/2011/07/protect-yourself-from-pirated-and-counterfeit-software.html. (Now archived here) Which states: "The best way to ensure that the software you purchased is Adobe genuine software is to register your product on Adobe.com using your Adobe ID immediately after you purchase it. If it is a counterfeit product you'll be able take action to return the product immediately."

We purchased CS6 on disks and immediately registered it with our Adobe ID successfully, as instructed. (Please see image #1.) Here is a later online Adobe genuine software validation, with all "PASS" for our software. (Please see image #2.) If not for Adobe's assurance that our software was genuine, we surely would have stopped payment for the disk-based CS6 and probably bought a no-disks CS6 download directly from Adobe or maybe continued to use our CS2.

We have asked only that Adobe restore the "key" to software they assured us was genuine at the time of purchase and after.

If you can assist with the restoration of our software key, please contact Boomer.

Happy collecting,
Boomer
