Jeremy Hoff has contributed to ParkPennies.com content for years now. His first visit to Disneyland was when he was five or six years old. Years later, he saw Disneyland in a new light, no doubt brightened by the cast member perks that allowed him to cut the many-hours-long queue for the brand new Indiana Jones ride. Imagine zipping into the cast member parking and boarding the Enhanced Motion Vehicles (EMV) within 5 minutes of admissions through the turnstiles? This perf led to looking deeper at how the park operated. Jeremy loves the show, but he really loves getting behind the scenes.

Having lived in Los Angeles County for all his life, Disneyland was at least a semiannual event for Jeremy growing up. When his kids were old enough, trips to Disneyland increased enough to justify an annual pass, and regular trips followed. Jeremy, and his wife Lesley, visited Disneyland a little more often over time, increasing with each new child as they could carry their own supplies of snacks and beverages around the parks. With two, then three, and now four children… a cost effective souvenir became ever more important.

Enter: the pressed penny.

Jeremy quickly realized it was far more than four-bit souvenir, but actually the beginning of a hobby that he quickly loved. He found ParkPennies.com while searching for wisdom and help for this new hobby obsession.

Many months later while enjoying pastrami sandwiches with his uncle, Jeremy described the new hobby and the fun he was having thanks to ParkPennies.com. Nodding in agreement, with a coy smirk, Jeremy’s uncle asked who ran this website. It was only then that Jeremy looked at the about page and discovered the answer:

Boomer was his uncle!

Pressed pennies have since been accompanied by medallions, which are growing in popularity across all castle parks worldwide. Still, the love for Disney and this collectibles hobby has grown, and Jeremy is excited to carry on and honor the legacy of this great hobby.Email him at jeremy@parkpennies.com<
