Tokyo Disneyland Medal or Pressed Penny Close-up

The Tokyo Disneyland TDL Park Medal
(Often called Pressed Penny or Elongated Coin)

The images are an attempt at capturing the finish or “texture” difference between the two coins. One die appears to have been sanded, as with good old sandpaper so that the high points of the coin die, (the low areas of the elongated coin surface / details) have vertical scratch marks. There are other small differences, however we have found this surface finish to be the easiest to spot. We hope the images above and the ParkPennies.com TDL Tokyo Disneyland Guide sections below will help collectors identify / differentiate these coins. For your reference, we also have an extreme (er) close up of the above picture.

This an example of the "polished" or "sanded" variation. Same coin, same die, with evidence of or the appearance that the coin field has been resurfaced.
