Pressed Penny Machine News

Share your Disneyland news here

In 1987, The Original Disneyland was the first Disney park in the world to offer pressed penny machines. Since then, Disney's First Park has made a lot of elongated coin news. News like the first pressed nickels, pressed dimes, pressed quarters, pressed coin backstamps... All from Disneyland Anaheim and all are documented and shared here via ParkPennies guides, articles, and archived news posts. But, for the latest breaking news and rumors filtered for just the DLR Anaheim, no TDL, HKDL, DLRP, this is the page! -For unfiltered news covering all the Disneyland Resort penny press machine news from around the word and more gossip :-) the ParkPennies "Pressed Pennies" The Elongated Coins of Disneyland home page is a good read. As always, please contact us whenever you have a question, news to share or a comment about the home of Disney's first pressed pennies, The Disneyland Resort Anaheim.    Happy Collecting, Boomer

DR0186-188 Mickey, Goofy, and Donald pressed penny machine marquee 10-7-1610/08/16 NEW PENNY! Our thanks to Natalie H. for reporting TWO MORE NEW coin press sets! The latest additions are located at the World of Disney Gift Shop, Downtown Disney Anaheim! This brings the total to FIVE NEW Machines, 15 new pressed coin designs, in this recent post-60th pressed coin design renaissance. The first machine offers Mickey, Goofy, and Donald as shown to the left.

DR0189 - DR0191 Winnie, Dumbo, and Pinocchio pressed coin machine marquee 10-7-2016.The second machine offers Winnie The Pooh, Dumbo (Jumbo), and Pinocchio as shown to the right.

All six coins have excellent backstamps, images edge to edge, press flat and you can press you own penny. If only all theme parks could offer such choice and "show" as you watch your own coin being pressed before your eyes for 51 cents! Don't forget these two new machines are in Downtown Disney. No admission charge is required and there is free parking in the Downtown Disney lot for up to two hours without validation. (More than two hours with certain validations.) The Disneyland Park Pressed Coin Guide has been updated and the Disneyland Resort Hotels and Downtown Disney Pressed Coin Guide will be updated soon. Happy collecting! Boomer.

10/06/16 New Pressed Pennies! Our thanks to Randy K. for spotting a NEW Indiana Jones set of pressed pennies at the Rajah's Mint coin press machine, Adventureland Bazaar Gift Shop, Indiana Jones Pressed Penny Machine button image. 10/06/2016Disneyland USA. Boomer has updated the ParkPennies Penny Machine Locations page with this new machine... PLUS four machines have returned to the Main Street Opera (Lincoln) Exit. The Disneyland Park Pressed Coin Guide will be updated, soonish. (Boomer is spending a lot of time at the park as new machines are rolling out.) Happy collecting! Boomer.

10/03/16 I have been scanning the new Beauty and the Beast and Winnie the Pooh pressed coin set "Backstamps" or "reverses" for the guide page entries. As you know, Disneyland is known for having some really nice backstamps, these are no exception! I'll try to add images of the new backstamps soon. :-) Happy collecting, Boomer.

Beauty and the Beast pressed quarter set marquee 9-30-2016 DL0642, DL0643, and DL064409/30/16 Edited 10/1 New Pressed Pennies! It appears all 60th pressed coin machines have been taken off-stage! And... so far, three new pressed coin sets have already been placed onstage, The Pirates machine last week plus two new pressed coin sets today! They are the DL0642, DL0643, DL0643, and DL0644 Beauty and the Beast pressed quarter machine located in The Enchanted Chamber (Castle), and the DL0645, DL0646, and DL0647 Winnie The Pooh pressed penny machine located in Pooh Corner, machine #1. We have updated the ParkPennies Penny Machine Locations page with the locations of these new pressed coin sets and the retirement of the 60th pressed coins. Also, on some "Full Site" pages, new "coin die numbers" will be added as we roll them out. Mobile pages will follow. Please keep in mind that The ParkPennies Coin Die Numbers are still provisional and may be subject to change or adjustment as we confirm them. We know these new numbers, as handy as they may be, will be of interest only to very advanced collectors who delight in the extreme exclusive details offered in The ParkPennies Guides... But, isn't' that reason enough to add them? :-)
That's a lot of news for one day, but, there is more! Rumors give us reason to look forward to several new pressed coin sets over the balance of the year, so please visit, share, and bookmark this page for future updates. And as always, if you spot a new machine before it's posted here, do tell Boomer. We'll gladly give you named credit for your find when sharing it here on ParkPennies as fellow collectors have for more than a decade. Happy collecting, Boomer.

Winnie The Pooh pressed penny machine marquee 9-30-2016 DL0645, DL0646, and DL064709/29/16 Our thanks to the many ParkPennies.com visitors who kindly shared reports that the Kingswell Camera or Elysian Arcade 60th coin press machine (offering the 60th Carthay Circle, 60th Red Car Trolley, and 60th D60 Diamond Celebration pressed pennies) has been off-stage for more than a week. So.... we are updating the ParkPennies Penny Machine Locations page to reflect the machines current status with the hope that will return. Shaina B. also reported that the Rushin' River Outpost machine is off-stage while construction work is taking place. We are looking forward to some great new pressed coins by the end of this year, so please check back often and let us know if you spot a new machine first. Happy collecting, Boomer. [Correction, this was originally posted on 9/28/16 not 9/29/16. Whoopee! I have an extra day this week! :-) ]

DL0639, DL0640 and DL0641 Pirates of the Caribbean Pieces of Eight pressed coin set marquee 9/9/20169/10/16 New Pressed Pennies! Our thanks to Brian C. for reporting a NEW Pirates of the Caribbean themed pressed coin set! Guide numbers DL0639, DL0640 and DL0641, (marquee image to the left) has replaced the 60th pressed coin set at the Pieces of Eight Gift Shop, the 60th Haunted Mansion, 60th New Orleans Square Lamppost, and 60th Boomer as Pirate set :-). The ParkPennies Penny Machine Locations page has been updated and we will have the Disneyland Park Pressed Coin Guide updated soon with images of the new coins. Happy collecting! Boomer.

8/29/16 Our thanks to Colleen for reporting that the coin press machines located at the Lincoln exit (Main Street Opera) are gone. Boomer did hear that the 60th machine has been moved to the Disneyana Shop next door. But, that is the only machine from the Lincoln exit that has been relocated so far. The ParkPennies Penny Machine Locations page has been updated to reflect the current status of these machines. If the machines do not return or if they return with new designs, the date of their retirement will be the date of the closure, if memory serves me, I think that August 22, 2016. Happy collecting, Boomer.

8/21/16 Newlyweds' pressed coins found! Raoul R. wrote us today asking "there were some newly weds who were collecting, and were working off your location list. The Paint the Night Parade started and they darted out of the Opera House leaving their Main Street USA and Brer Fox Critter Country pennies behind. I found the pennies when I went to use the machine; tried to find them, but couldn't in the chaos. Since they were using your location map I was hoping that maybe you might be able to post something, they would see it, and I would be happy to mail them their pennies. Just trying to be an honest collector." Hi Raoul, you are an excellent example of the great people that make this such a wonderful hobby. We're honored you ask us to help. If you are the folks Raoul is trying to locate, please contact Boomer. Happy collecting!

8/21/16 Our thanks to Steven M. for reporting that the quarter press themed with characters from the movie "Up" in front of the Rushin' River Outfitters is now $1.00 including the quarter to be pressed. Also our thanks to Randy K. for reporting that the 60th pressed penny machine featuring Donald Duck, Goofy, and Pluto has moved from the center door at the Downtown Disney World of Disney Store to the East door nearest the La Brea Bakery. (The Decades penny press remains at the center door.) Our Penny Machine Locations page has been updated. Happy collecting, Boomer.

7/21/16 Our thanks to Jess T. for reporting that the Mad T Party penny press machine, CA0141-143 located at the Gone Hollywood Gift Shope in Disney California Adventure, is still offstage. Given Disneyland Resort machines are seldom offstage for long unless they are in line for new coin designs or the machine is relocated and given that there are many rumors of new coin designs for Disney California Adventure, and the machine has not been relocated, (We're almost to the end of this sentence :-) we're thinking the set is retired. The Penny Machine Locations and the Disney California Adventure Pressed Coin Guide have been updated. Happy collecting, Boomer.

Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters coin press machine marquee7/13/16 Our thanks to Mike R. for reporting that one of the machines at the Disney California Adventure five and dime store was "missing" today. Hmmm... Knowing that this is the machine that held the Luigi's Flying Tires pressed coin and that the ride has been closed, replaced with the Rollickin' Roadsters... Boomer took off for the park thinking for sure there would soon be a new coin at DCA. But, upon arriving, the old machine was in fact still missing.Dang! Well, Disneyland is not a bad place to spend some time. There is lots to do... gotta check the other coin press machines in the park, right? :-) Then, later in the day, another check for the missing machine. The coin press machine had returned... with a New Pressed Pennies! NEW Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters pressed penny!
We've already updated the ParkPennies Penny Machine Locations page, we'll retire the CA0172 Luigi's Flying Tires pressed coin and add this new coin to the Disney California Adventure Pressed Coin Guide soon. Happy collecting! Boomer.

The Disneyland 2015-2014 Decades pressed penny set.7/01/16 New Pressed Pennies! The 2005-2014 Decades set of pressed coins was placed onstage sometime before 10:00 this morning. The machine is working great, presses copper cents perfectly. This should be the last in the series of Decades coins bringing the total number of coins issued for the 60th Diamond Celebration to... 60. (39 60th coins originally placed onstage including the first set of Decades coins, plus seven additional sets of three each Decades coins.) We have posted an image of the 2005-2014 coin press machine marquee here, updated The ParkPennies Penny Machine Locations page, and will have the Disneyland Resort Hotels and Downtown Disney Pressed Coin Guide updated soon. Happy collecting! Boomer.

6/25/16 Today the well known Disneyana Collectors, Dan and Laura B., (Also known as IMTIGGER! on eBay) shared news of a 6/24/16 Blog Post by Michelle Harker, who collectors know as a wonderful source of pressed coin news and The Mouse knows as Manager, Merchandise Marketing & Communications, Disneyland Resort. But, I digress more... :-) In her post, Michelle talks about the new Star Wars Pressed Coin Machines. Michelle Harker often has news well worth checking out and in my opinion, worth a bookmark. (As you may recall, she was the person that announced the 60th pressed coins.) Additionally, ParkPennies has posted some information about these very cool Star Wars coin presses here in the ParkPennies 5/20/2016 New Star Wars Pressed Coins post and in the ParkPennies Guide to Disneyland Star Wars Pressed Coins.
Related: Of interest to anxious pressed coin collectors... Rumors of more Star Wars coins have been circulating! So be sure to check back here often and "Like" the ParkPennies.com FaceBook page for updates. Happy Collecting! Boomer.

6/20/16 Our thanks to Randy K. who reported the ESPN machine was moved to the ESPN Gift Shop door. Randy K. and Boomer have confirmed that the machine is up and running today. Happy collecting, Boomer.
6/19/16 Our thanks to Alex D. for reporting that the ESPN hand crank penny press machine located in Downtown Disney (Not maintained by The Disneyland Resort Arcade.) has been taken offstage. This machine was last reported out of order in May of 2016 by the machine owner with no following updates so far. It is possible that the machine has been taken offstage for repair and may return. We will note the guide and machine locations pages if the machine does not return soon. For more information about this machine, please visit the ParkPennies.com Disneyland Resort Area Pressed Coin Guide which includes all "on property" machines outside the gates of Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure including, but not limited to, the non-Disneyland themed penny presses located at ESPN, Rainforest Cafe, the DownTown Disney walkways, etc. Happy Collecting, Boomer.

5/26/16 Our thanks to Randy K. for reporting the relocation of a hand-crank penny press in Downtown Disney, Anaheim. He shared his observation of the DR0139-142 Tinker Bell, Pirate Mickey, Captain Hook, and Sorcerer Mickey hand crank machine between Wetzel's Pretzels and Häagen-Dazs Ice Cream. That's a tempting but dangerous location for old Boomer. :-) We have updated the Penny Machine Locations page. Happy collecting, Boomer.

5/25/16 About the posting of jammed or temporarily out-of-order machines... The Star Wars and Decades coin presses have really been busy lately! While at the park over the past few days, I have often noticed lines at the Star Wars quarter presses. One of the machines jammed Sunday morning. But before long, two Arcade Shop Cast Members, Kathie and Laura, quickly cleared the machine and saved the day. On another day, a dirty quarter was pressed in the Rebel Forces quarter press. (I could have understood if it was put in the First Order machine. :-) Soon, a Star Trader Gift Shop Cast Member shut down the machine. A short time later, it was up and running... Sorry, I digress, again. :-) What I want to say is that because machines this busy do occasionally require maintenance and because at Disneyland that maintenance is often done within a day, ParkPennies does not post or mark that a machine is "off-stage" or "out-of-order" unless a machine has been or is expected to be unavailable for a long time.
We are often reminded by emails and stories shared with us by fellow guests, repeatedly :-), that coin press machines in "other theme parks" may be out of adjustment and rolling short or jammed for a week or more. Yes, I do feel a bit spoiled at Disneyland from time to time, but, isn't that what brings us back to Disneyland again and again? ;-) Next time you see a Cast Member tuning up a coin press, please don't be shy about saying "thanks" and if they share news of an upcoming penny press with you, do let us know. :-) Happy collecting, Boomer.

DL0633-635 Rebel Forces coin press video screen capture on May 20th, 2016 05/20/16 New Pressed Pennies! TWO NEW STAR WARS QUARTER PRESSES ARE ONSTAGE! Today ParkPennies Staff Members Char, Stasi, Dave, and Bob were the first to report that the rumored and long awaited Star Wars pressed coins have arrived! The new machines offer three pressed quarters each. One coin press features the Rebel Forces and the other offers First Order themed coins. Cool! Both machines are located at the Star Trader Gift Shop in Tomorrowland. By the way, these are very special coin press machines. I don't quote Walt often, but, when I saw these machines, I couldn't help but remember his words "Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world." Imagination has made these machines extra-special. Even guests that don't collect pressed coins, if there are any :-), may want stop by the Star Trader Gift Shop and watch the coin press "shows".
DL0636-638 First Order coin press video screen capture on May 20th, 2016As you'll see there, the marquees or penny press signs have been replaced by video screens that play video clips featuring images of the Star Wars themed pressed quarters with sound while lights of changing colors illuminate the coin as it's pressed. Really, you've got to check them out. And, these priceless souvenirs cost only $1.00, 75 cents plus the quarter that is pressed into a Star Wars keepsake as you watch! We have posted still pictures of the marquees here, no spoilers. :-), updated The ParkPennies Penny Machine Locations page, and will have the Disneyland Park Pressed Coin Guide updated soon with images of the coins. Happy collecting! Boomer.New 1995-2004 60th Anniversay Decades set May 06, 2016.

05/06/16 New Pressed Pennies! NEW 60th DECADES SET! Today Boomer reported that the 1995-2004 themed set, the seventh set of eight total Decades sets to be issued for the 60th, has arrived! In a couple of months with the arrival of the last rumored Decades set, the 2005 - 2014 set, the 60th pressed coin collection should be complete with a total of 60 different pressed coins. We have posted the marquee here, updated The ParkPennies Penny Machine Locations page, and will have the Disneyland Resort Hotels and Downtown Disney Pressed Coin Guide updated soon, if not already. Happy collecting! Boomer.

2016 Main Street USA Disneyland pressed nickel set marquee on March 18, 2016.03/19/16 As a follow-up for our report yesterday, we have posted the marquee for the latest 2016 pressed nickel set here, updated The ParkPennies Penny Machine Locations page. The Disneyland Park Pressed Coin Guide with pictures and descriptions will be updated soon. Rumors of a Star Wars penny press persist. As soon as we spot or receive a report of a new machine, we'll post it here. UPDATE 3/21/16 Our thanks to Mike R. for reporting that the DL0627-629 machine was gone this morning and returned this afternoon. The machine, marquee and coin designs did not change... with the exception of new backstamps that include copyright notices. This change retires the DL0627-629 set and introduces the new DL0630-632 set for advanced collectors. Casual collectors who missed the original 2016 pressed nickel set need not stress over this change as the two sets share the same obverse designs. Happy Collecting, Boomer.

03/18/16 New Pressed Pennies!I'm just back from the park to report... NEW 2016 PRESSED NICKELS are onstage at the Main Street Opera exit, Disneyland, USA! Large, nicely engraved coins with excellent backstamps! Pictures and updates will be here Saturday. Happy collecting! Boomer.

New 1985-1994 60th Anniversay Decades set March 11, 2016.03/11/16 New Pressed Pennies! NEW 60th DECADES SET! This 1985-1994 themed set is the sixth set of eight total Decades sets to be issued which will bring the total number of 60th pressed coins up to er ah... wait for it.... 60! :-) We have posted the marquee here, updated The ParkPennies Penny Machine Locations page, and will have the Disneyland Resort Hotels and Downtown Disney Pressed Coin Guide updated soon, if not already. The web site maybe a bit more "Goofy" and "Dopey" than usual as we are attempting to re-write several pages of code. Once done, your mobile phone browsing will be... um... better. We're aiming for much better, but lets wait and see how we do. :-) Happy collecting! Boomer.

Walt Disney World 12 die pressed coins01/30/16 Recently I was visiting with a fellow guest and penny presser at Disneyland. As we were pressing coins, the conversation moved to how nicely the machines work at Disneyland. Even the pre-1982 solid copper cents I used were exceptionally flat and well formed with complete images. Disney quality. However, the fellow guest reminded me that things are not like that at all Disney Resorts.
Some newly-designed machines at another Disney Resort:
- Do not let you choose or press you own coins. Sadly, you cannot place a penny or token in the machine and watch as it's pressed.
- Are pre-loaded with less desirable copper-plated zinc cents. Not the pre-1982 solid copper cents many guests prefer or insist upon.
- Charge twice as much as The Disneyland Resort. $1.00 to press a single penny, unless you buy all 12 coins offered by the machine, then it's “only” $10.00 for the set.
But, that’s not what the guest was most disappointed about. It was the low quality coins the machine used (zinc) and the poor quality of the "pressing" (some too long and some too short). Here's an image of some WDW 12 die coins shared with us by a disappointed owner.
Why this post is so important. Disneyland Resort guests enjoy the “show” when fun, quality souvenirs are pressed on our own solid copper cents or Disney tokens. Watching a coin or token we have placed in the machine being pressed into a quality keepsake souvenir before our eyes makes a memory, often a very fun memory. But, sometimes we forget that this "plus" at The Disneyland Resort is not by accident and it’s not like that everywhere. If not for the Disneyland Resort Team it could all disappear. So, please don’t forget to let the people in the corner offices and the amazing Cast Members in the park know how much you appreciate what they do. :-) Happy Collecting, Boomer.
UPDATE: 2/1/16 Thank you all for your feedback. I thought I might get a few emails, but, wow! I may move this post on to a full page article.
UPDATE: 2/2/16 Er, ah, okay. :-) I'm getting the feeling that there are a lot of people that would like to be heard on this subject. We're happy to offer a forum for comments. What are your thoughts about the new 8 - 12 coin choice machines that press coins already inside the machine, vs. the traditional, three coin choice coin press machines that press a coin or token that you place in the machine to be pressed? You can share your thoughts and contribute to a future article on the subject by emailing Boomer.

01/22/16 Recent updates courtesy of fellow Disneyland elongated coin collector, Randy K. : Main Street Train Station 60th set of pressed coins, now located at the Main Street Penny Arcade. Yes, The Penny Arcade has a "penny press" again! Well, quarters, but, just saying. :-) Randy also mentioned that the Cars set that was displaced by the Disney California Adventure Holiday Nickel Set has returned with the retirement of the Holiday Nickels. The ParkPennies Penny Machine Locations page is up to date. Next up? Maybe a 2016 nickel set? We'll post it here! Happy collecting, Boomer.

Decades 1975 - 1984 pressed coin marquee 1-15-201601/15/16 New Pressed Pennies! Our thanks to Randy K. who was the first person to report.... THE NEW DECADES 1975 -1984 PENNY PRESS MACHINE! Star Wars Pressed Coins Brochure Disneyland01/09/16 Rumors are building over a possible Star Wars pressed coin set for Disneyland! The our thanks to fellow collector Clifford K. who reports that he has seen a Disney reference about the planned future set. This could be one of the most popular pressed penny sets... ever. More to come.
UPDATE 01/09/15 p.m. Clifford K. just shared an image from the latest Disneyland Pressed Coin brochure mentioning Star Wars Pressed Coins. Happy collecting, Boomer.

01/04/16 Our thanks to Jason K. for reporting that the 2015 nickel press is offstage. We will update the Disneyland Pressed Coin Guides and Penny Press Location Page soon. Given that the yearly nickel machine has become a tradition at the park, we anticipate a 2016 nickel press. As soon as we have word of a new machine, we will post it here and FaceBook. Also our thanks for your very much appreciated posts on Disney related blogs that mention or link to ParkPennies.com. We do see them and they make our day! :-) Happy collecting, Boomer

Happy Collecting! Boomer.

12/14/15 No Seasonal Nickels reported as of noon today. But, we're looking! Of course, as the Seasonal Nickels time of year nears, Boomer can't sleep and that gives him more time for sprucing up the ParkPennies web site. :-) Now, long time ParkPennies readers know what that means... So, as always, if / when you spot something that doesn't look correct... er ah, that is something that looks out of place even here, :-), or have an improvement, correction or design suggestion, or just a Disney pressed penny question, we do appreciate hearing from you by contacting us via email or message. Happy collecting and thank you for visiting, Boomer and the folks at ParkPennies.

12/10/15 No 2015 Disneyland Seasonal Pressed Nickel sets onstage, yet. But, rumors are building and several fellow collectors are searching the park daily. Boomer will also be making his appointed rounds of the parks more frequently over the next week or two. Hopefully we'll post news of the 2015 Christmas, Seasonal, Holiday pressed nickel machines here soon... and on facebook too. Happy collecting, the folks at ParkPennies.

Here's a picture of the marquee. We'll update the Disneyland Resort Hotels and Downtown Disney Pressed Coin guides soon and the Penny Machine Locations even sooner. :-) Happy Collecting! Boomer.

11/10/15 Some updates here and there recently. We did a regular update of the ParkPennies.com Penny Machine Locations PDF file. The Starcade 60th penny press has moved across the way to the Buzz Lightyear Gift Shop etc. The ParkPennies Location Page is current and offers the newest locations of 60th penny press machines, Frozen pressed quarters, return of the 2015 nickel machine etc. Don't leave home without it. :-) But, if you do forget to take a printed copy of the FREE ParkPennies.com Penny Press Locations Page with you, remember it's always as close as a smartphone at http://www.ParkPennies.com. Oh, before I forget... There are no new Decades coins or Seasonal Nickels... yet. But, maybe later this month. Happy collecting, Boomer.

10/30/15 Our thanks to an Anony-mouse visitor that brought an error to our attention. We had described the most recent Decades set of pressed pennies, the 1965-74 Decades set, as being in the style of Josh Agle (SHAG). They are now correctly described as being in the style of Jeff Granito's Decades prints. We greatly appreciate contributions, suggestions, submissions and corrections by fellow Disney pressed coin collectors. Contact us anytime via Boomer's VIP contact page. :-) Happy collecting, Boomer.

10/28/15 Greetings! Some ParkPennies pages are getting a long awaited make-over. Long time friends and visitors may have noticed a few recent "page design updates" we are slowly working through the site... If you started collecting Disneyland pressed coins way back in the 1990's, you'll remember that our earliest website was very small, a free address given by our dial up internet service that we dedicated to the hobby and gladly volunteered to maintain. In the beginning, the web site offered only a Disneyland pressed penny Excel / Lotus 123 file and provided a way for a then small group of collectors to view and help update the "list"; much as we still do today. (A condensed Excel file of all ParkPennies Guides is still here, linked from the Locations and Downloadable files page or here's a direct link to the most recent Disneyland Resort Elongated Coin Guide Excel file.) After a year or two, we were shocked to see our first web site "traffic report". People we had never personally met were actually visiting the web site! Lots of them! WhooOwhOoo! We decided to use a spell checker, right away! :-) Not long after, Boomer, a person with no web site programing knowledge and well founded fear of it, finally converted that Excel file into "web pages" albeit not very good ones. 100's of those pages are sadly still here today. As you know, in the world of technology, something a year or two old might need to be updated. Well, we're talking about web pages from the last century! Yes, the 1990's! :-) They are old friends. But, they aren't very good for ParkPennies visitors using today's mobile devices and smartphones with smaller screens. So, we're doing what we can to spruce them up and make them more "Mobile Friendly". Don't worry, ParkPennies will still look like the 1990's. :-) The information, images, guides and fun stuff will all remain. But it will look better on mobile, we hope. And as we re-write the pages, Boomer will of course be adding more links, related pictures, and details here and there too. :-) So, all our pages should "work" but some might look a bit odder than usual now and then as they "evolve". Thank you for your patience and Happy Collecting! Boomer. Seasonal Nickels are just around the corner... Stay tuned!

10/15/15 No word yet about the Seasonal Nickel Sets for 2015 / 2016. We have heard rumors of a 60th themed set. If so, it might be an extra set or one of the two "traditional sets" assuming this year follows tradition. As you may know, seasonal pressed nickels have been welcoming year end guests at the Disneyland Resort since 1995 and they make one fantastic pressed coin collection! Many families make a tradition of pressing a set of Seasonal Nickels for their scrap books, pressed coin collections, to include in their Holiday cards, etc. So, you know we will post the news here as soon as we know a new machine has been placed onstage... Not that anyone is asking about them already! :-) Please note that over recent years, new Seasonal coins have often been placed onstage in late December. However, historically, some sets have arrived as early as the first week of November. So, we just don't know in advance when the pressed nickel sets will arrive for sure. Boomer looks forward to their unpredictable arrival every year and thinks of them as a special Seasonal... surprise gift. ;-) Happy collecting, Boomer.

9/26/15 Our thanks, again to C & D Neal for sharing items from their collections with ParkPennies visitors. Their latest items, a Walt Disney World Castle in a Bottle (Separate image of the WDW Castle in a Bottle) and a Disneyland Resort Paris Arcade Token! Happy collecting, Boomer

The 60th 1965-1974 Decades pressed penny set 9/25/2015.9/25/15 New Pressed Pennies! Our thanks to Janet S. for reporting the arrival of the 1965-1974 Decades pressed penny set! Our Penny Machine Locations page has been updated and we will update the DR Disneyland Resort Hotels and Downtown Disney Guide soon. Thank you for your recent links and likes, they make our day! Happy collecting, Boomer.

9/24/15 Have a few free minutes? Why not check out the auctions by fellow ParkPennies visitors. It's a great way to find onstage coins, some scarcer Disneyland elongated coins, and there are currently more than 300 listed! (Here's how to add your Disneyland pressed coin auctions to the list for free.) Happy collecting, Boomer.

9/22/15 New pressed penny set is expected at the Disneyland Resort this week... stay tuned for updates!

9/15/15 Lots of small updates for you today and one larger update, the DN Neverlands Guide of prototype pressed coins. It's now two pages, was rewritten to assign full guide numbers for coins that had been squeezed in between numbers, now includes lots more large pictures, more coin comparisons were added, and some notes were updated. The guide was also made more "mobile friendly" er ah... So, may I digress here a bit? "Mobile Friendly" as you may know, is a Google requirement of sorts for web sites to serve mobile devices that have very small screens, like watches(!) Please, we know Google wants us to see ParkPennies in all its beauty. But, on a tiny 320 pixel wide smart-watch, seriously?! :-) As long time readers will know, "Mobile friendly" is a scary term for Boomer. Let's face it, his name isn't Super Tech, it's Boomer! Coding a web site for "mobile friendly" isn't in his skill set. Matter of fact, a quick look around here and you'll see that he's not that skilled at writing standard web pages either. Boomer is trying But, we're trying and thankfully ParkPennies is all about enjoying and sharing this fun hobby and Boomer has had no trouble doing that given your most welcome help and this simple web site. It all works because of your FaceBook likes, blog posts, and internet links to our humble pages. They help pressed penny collectors find ParkPennies... even without a professional web master or a Google friendly design. penny smiley So, again, thank you very much for your support from the folks at ParkPennies and Happy collecting!

9/15/15 Our thanks to Jason K. for reporting that the 2015 machine has not returned. We've noted it as off-stage on the Penny Machine Locations page. It is possible that the machine might return, so we didn't completely remove it from the guide. But, because the set is dated 2015, we're thinking the longer it is off-stage, the more likely it may just be replaced by another coin set, maybe a 2016 dated set?

D23 EXPO pressed penny machine marquee sign. Image courtesy of Sharon K.8/15/15 New Pressed Pennies! Our thanks to Sharon K. for being the first to report a new penny press machine! It's one many of us have been hoping for since the first D23 EXPO years ago.... It's a set of three D23 pressed pennies! The machine is located inside the D23 EXPO 2015 Dream Store at the Anaheim Convention Center. ADVISORY: Membership and admission are required to access this machine. [Update: We were informed by a trusted source, Ricky K., that they were able to "walk in" late Sunday without cost. This is a change in admission requirements based on Friday's reports.] We hope to have pictures and guide entries soon. We will update the Penny Machine Locations page within the hour so ParkPennies readers can locate the machine while at the D23. Happy collecting, Boomer.

8/15/15 at 8:00 a.m. No new machines have been reported in Anaheim since the New 1955-1964 Decades Set. We are receiving reports from ParkPennies readers often and will post any new machine updates here.

Penny in a Bottle collection8/9/15 What next? You know they say idle hands... You guessed it, Boomer had a bit too much time on his hands this weekend. The result? A Penny in a Bottle Collection guide! Well, at least he wasn't getting into trouble and if the guide becomes a popular page for ParkPennies visitors, Boomer will gladly spend some more time on the guide. :-) So, do take a look at the new, still a draft, ParkPennies Penny in a Bottle Collection guide. (Also linked in the "ALL Guides, News Articles listed here!" box near the top of most pages.) Maybe it will bring a smile or even start you on the way to collecting Pennies in Bottles? :-) Happy collecting, The folks at ParkPennies.com.

7/30/15 Walt Disney World penny press concerns. We are flattered by the numerous reader emails requesting our help with coin press related problems at WDW. People have mentioned that WDW machines are sometimes out of adjustment for long periods of time, that some machines vend less desirable zinc plated pennies, coins sometimes "roll short" that is are missing part of the design, pricing is as much as $1.00 for a pressed penny.... Matter of fact, we have even heard concerns about WDW coin presses while waiting to use a penny press at Disneyland, Anaheim (!)
I wish we could do more to help. We report about Disneyland Parks around the world, but, not WDW. However, from what we have been told, WDW and Disneyland have very different coin press management systems. Disneyland, the first Disney park to have coin press machines, has owned and serviced their own machines on site since 1987. On the other hand, WDW's machines are now managed at least in part by an outside company. Several people that have been affiliated with that outside company have been in my personal contacts list for a decade or two. Over that time, I have found them to be nothing but nice, professional, good folks, some are even "Advanced Collector enthusiastic" about Disney elongated coins. :-) That's why I know they want the guest "penny press machine show" experience at Walt Disney World to be just as Magical as it is at Disneyland. So, if you have a concern about the design or maintenance of coin press machines at WDW, please let WDW know.

7/26/15 Often ParkPennies receives news and updates from anony-mouse contributors. Although we can't thank anony-mouse contributors by name, it isn't going to stop us from saying Thank You. :-) We'd also like to extend a special thanks this week to Alex D. for his amazing and continuous help in editing ParkPennies posts and guide entries, Cathy P. for her machine observations, Mike R. for sharing his insights about industry trends and Dave and Stasi S. for their timely in park machine reports. Happy collecting, Boomer.

7/25/15 We've updated the Guide to the 60th Diamond Celebration Pressed Coin Collection to include the latest addition, the "1955-1964" Decade coin set. We've also noted the retirement of the first Decades set, the "Opening Day" set. The Disneyland Resort Hotels and Downtown Disney Pressed Coins "DR" Guide has been updated to include the new Frozen pressed penny set and the 1955-1964 60th Decades pressed penny set, both of which are in Downtown Disney. Before you go to the park, don't forget to bookmark our Penny Machine Locations page so you can check it via your smartphone or print a copy of it to take with you. It has the locations of ALL the Disneyland Resort Penny Press Machines, plus some off-property "Disney Themed" machines and it's updated often. It's FREE! (I think it's worth twice the price, but, you be the judge. :-) Happy collecting! Boomer.

1955-1964 Disneyland 60th Decades pressed penny set7/24/15 New Pressed Pennies! NEW DECADES pressed penny set! This new design 1955-1964 decade pressed penny set (DR0165-167) has replaced the now retired "Opening Day" Decades set, DR0159, 160, & 161. The machine has also been moved from the center door of the DownTown Disney Anaheim World of Disney Store to the door closest Disneyland / DCA. Our Penny Machine Locations page has been updated and we will update the guides soon. Thank you for your shares, likes and links! Happy collecting, Boomer.

Penny Press Marquee, DR0162-164 Anna and Elsa's on 7/22/157/22/15 New Pressed Pennies! FROZEN pressed penny set in Downtown Disney! This is the pressed penny set that was mentioned in The Official Pressed Coin Location Map that listed the locations of the 60th Anniversary penny press machines. Both the machine and location are new and waiting for you at Anna and Elsa's Boutique in Downtown Disney Anaheim. Our Penny Machine Locations page has been updated and we will update the guides soon. Thank you for your links and likes! Happy collecting, Boomer.

7/09/15 The good folks at MOUSE PENNY GUIDE have updated their Windows 8+ app to include the latest 60th pressed coins. We have a link to the MOUSE PENNY GUIDE software on our Penny Press Machine Locations Page, or you can visit the Microsoft Apps Store: MOUSE PENNY GUIDE directly. Happy collecting, Boomer.

7/2/15 It's slowed down a bit from the hectic pace last month. We hope to have the latest Tokyo Disneyland pressed pennies up before long. No news for any other parks. Some new coins are planned for Disneyland Anaheim, over the next few weeks. We'll post here as soon as we have word that they have arrived. If you spot a new coin first, do email Boomer. Have a great weekend! Happy collecting, the folks at ParkPennies.com

6/23/15 We updated the 60th elongated coin collection guide page a bit. But, we don't think there will be any new coins to add to the 60th collection for another month or so. (Based on rumors from trusted sources.) There are other small updates, corrections... here and there. Have a great week! Happy collecting, Boomer.

6/22/15 Our thanks to Sharon K. for reporting that the Frozen quarter machine, DL0589-591 at Disneyland, has moved from The Small World Toy Shop to the Fairy Tale Treasures Shop. (Located between the Royal Theatre and Royal Hall in Disneyland's New Fantasy Faire just west of the Sleeping Beauty Castle.) The ParkPennies Penny Machine Locations page has been updated. Happy collecting, Boomer.

6/7/15 The 60th coin press machines are getting great reviews! Okay, maybe that's not news. :-) But, recently people have contacted ParkPennies or have had the misfortune to be standing next to Boomer in a coin press line only to find themselves the subject of an impromptu interrogation. :-) We thought you might like to know what they had to say? Not surprisingly, virtually every person complemented the way the 60th elongated coin collection has been managed. The excellent theming, the scope of the 60th pressed coin collection, the machine adjustment and function, the ease of locating machines via the penny maps, and the 60th coin backstamps all were praised repeatedly. So, if you agree, please join with us when you see an Arcade / Electro-Mechanical Technician or an easily cornered :-) Member of Disneyland Management. Let them know how you feel about this fantastic 60th pressed coin collection and their efforts that made it possible. Share some 60th pressed penny magic with them. :-) Happy collecting! Boomer.
PS: We wish to also acknowledge some welcome comments volunteered via comparisons between Disneyland and another well-known theme park. We did hear you. They did complement Disneyland. But, the comments were... ah... er... unflattering to the other theme park and we really do attempt to keep our posts "positive"... (Admittedly, all too often with limited success. :-)

60th Diamond Celebration Penny Book
View in our Pressed Penny Book Guide
The 2015 Disneyland Resort 60th Diamond Celebration Pressed Penny Book. $8.95 at DLR.

6/2/15 There are two 60th pressed penny related items that you may wish to add to your collection, the $8.95 60th pressed penny book pictured at the right and also the Free Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration Official Pressed Coin Location Map. (The PDF version is here courtesy of the Disneyland Resort. But do ask for a printed copy at the park. This brochure is a work of art. And I'm told, free for the asking while supplies last.) Happy collecting, Boomer.

"Press" pennies, given out to special guests at the Disneyland 60th press day.6/2/15 Just for fun, here on the left is a scan of two different versions of a pressed penny promotional piece reportedly given to special invitees and representatives of the press at the Disneyland Diamond Celebration Launch Event on May 20th, 2015. (Our thanks to Mike R.) They are made of a heavy card stock diamond with an elastic cord looped through a hole punched in a 60th pressed penny and then through the diamond card and tied in a bow. The pennies used in the examples we have pictured are a DL0604 and DL0619 described in the ParkPennies Guide to Disneyland Pressed Pennies. What should we call these? "Press" pennies? :-) Happy collecting, Boomer.

5/29/15 The Guide to the 60th Diamond Celebration Pressed Coin Collection is not perfect, but, it's usable. :-) All the related guides and the Penny Machine Locations are up to date also. Please let us know if you spot a problem, error, .... Happy collecting! Boomer.

5/26/15 The Guide to the 60th Diamond Celebration Pressed Coin Collection is a draft for the next few days. But, includes images, locations, and descriptions of all the Disneyland Resort 60th Diamond Celebration pressed coins. You will want to view this page in desktop mode for now. (Just press the "Open the Full Site" button when the page opens. We have also updated the Penny Machine Locations and the related ParkPennies Guides: The Disneyland Park Pressed Coin Guide, The Disney California Adventure Pressed Coins Guide, and The Disneyland Resort Hotels and Downtown Disney Pressed Coins Guide. Happy collecting! Boomer.

5/24/15 Our thanks to Raven Silvers, who most kindly shared the results of their recent search for Disneyland Resort Paris elongated coins.

5/24/15 We're swamped and loving it! We're [also] working on editing pictures, scans etc. for a Guide to the 60th Diamond Celebration Pressed Coin Collection. Until it's done, here is a very fast, image of all the 60th Diamond Celebration pressed coins issued to date including images of the two backstamps. Guide numbers for the 60th Diamond Celebration coins are already listed on the Penny Machine Locations page. Sorry, for the guide update delays, it's been a wonderful but busy week. :-) Happy collecting, Boomer.

5/24/15 Both Advanced Collector and casual guest reactions to the current 39 60th Diamond Celebration pressed coins have been extremely positive. Only time will tell, but, so far, based on the current level of excitement, we can't help but think the success of the 60th pressed coin collection will exceed that of even the very, very successful 50th Anniversary pressed penny collection.

5/23/15 We've assigned ParkPennies.com guide numbers to the 60th Diamond Celebration coins as listed on the Penny Machine Locations page.

5/23/15 The World of Disney Donald, Goofy, and Pluto penny press moved locations late yesterday. We've updated the ParkPennies Penny Machine Locations Boomer will be taking a quick look see today at the park to confirm machines and locations. Hope to see you there. Happy collecting, Boomer.

5/22/15 Our thanks to John and Nancy W., Ralph and Donna B., Mike R., Ricky K., Jamie B., Sarah N., Ron W., Alex D., Daniela M., Lou S., more than a few anony-mouse emails. We could not have found all the machines, especially in a single day, without your help. We'll have the Penny Machine Locations updated and moved from the Draft to a final with complete descriptions later today. The guides will follow. Update: The Penny Locations Page is current and complete as of today. There may be some small differences between the ParkPennies map, which is constantly updated, and the Official Disneyland Resort map which may have been drafted / printed in advance and is a work of art.

5/22/15 Several people have asked or commented at the park today that some or all of the 60th Diamond Celebration pressed coins will be onstage, available, only for one day, today. ParkPennies does not know of any 60th penny press machines that are "one day only". Based on the visitor comments we've received, we believe that about 12 of the machine coin sets are planned to be onstage for the entire 60th Celebration with one additional machine, located in the World of Disney store in Downtown Disney, changing coin images every two months or so over the life of the 60th Diamond Celebration.

5/21/15 PM Boomer, with the most welcome help of MANY ParkPennies visitors, (Who will be named, credited, and properly thanked in our next update.) has just divined a "Special 60th DRAFT… Rumors, anony-mouse reports, guesses, psychic visions, and real tips from fellow collectors" version of our Penny Machine Locations page. It's not perfect yet. But, you can have it before park opening on Friday.
We hope it will help you locate those fantastic 60th pressed coins for your collection. We think this 60th Diamond Celebration pressed coin set will most likely be the most collected elongated coin collection in Disney history! And while the coins are available onstage, you can press the pennies for 51 cents and the quarters for $1.00 including the coin that keep! No wonder the Disneyland Resort is predicted to reach capacity on the 22nd! :-) Happy collecting, Boomer.

5/21/15 Big update on the way! LOTS of 60th Diamond Celebration penny press machines and penny collectors at Disneyland today! The machines are working beautifully and the coins feature fantastic backstamps... We're editing the your most welcome and helpful visitor reports for posting, sorting out coins, machine locations, and pictures. ParkPennies will also update the guides over the next few days. Check late today for our updates to the Penny Machine Locations page... it's all you'll need at the park, not counting a truck load of quarters and pennies. :-) Happy collecting! Boomer.
PS Disneyland closes today at 6:00 pm and opens Friday at 6:00 am for a 24 hour long 60th kick off! We think there will be even more machines onstage Friday!

5/20/15 I scouted the parks this morning. No 60th machines were onstage yet. However, there were a lot of empty spots! :-) Soon! Happy collecting, Boomer.

5/19/15 No 60th penny press machines... yet. But, Boomer is pacing back and forth and some well known long time collectors have taken up residence near the park. It's going to be a fantastic elongated coin collection and will be onstage soon. ParkPennies.com will be posting news of new machines both here and on the ParkPennies FaceBook Page. Happy Collecting! Boomer.

5/18/15 ParkPennies welcomes Ricky K's news about his recent visit to WDW. He reports that the 12 die machine mentioned in our 4/2/15 post was working fine and accepting credit cards again. Added 5/19/15: The WDW 12 die penny press machine is also reported to be pressing new, shiny uncirculated zinc cents not the tarnished circulated zinc cents the machine vended in the past. If uncirculated pre 1982 copper cents can't be offered, ParkPennies visitors have shown a preference for solid copper planchets, as used in Tokyo and Hong Kong, over zinc cents. However, ParkPennies sees the step up to clean zinc cents a welcome improvement.

5/17/15 Our thanks to Jeremy H. for reporting the new location of the Voluntears nickel press machine.

5/16/15 WooooHOoOooo! The countdown to the 60th kick-off is on. Press day is Wednesday the 20th, and the official start of the 60th is on Friday, the 22nd. Rumors seem to agree that eventually there will be a dozen or more 60th Anniversary coin press machines placed throughout the Disneyland Resort. Given the shear numbers of machines, we anticipate a roll-out over a few days. So, if you are traveling and / or not planning to enter or stay at the Resort for more than a day or two, do check this news page and our Penny Machine Locations page for machine availability. ParkPennies.com, with the welcome help of ParkPennies visitors, able to ferret out even the most hidden of penny press machines... and Boomer, will be posting new machine locations here. I can't wait! :-) Happy collecting, Boomer.

05/07/15 Our thanks to Jay S. for sharing news that the 12 die penny press at WDW mentioned in our 4/2/15 post, no longer accepts credit cards. Jay states that a Cast Member told him the machine was having issues with authorizing credit cards. However, the machine does still accept cash, lots of it... pressed pennies cost $1.00 each (!) or 12 for $10.00. Still no 60th machines reported at Disneyland.... soon! Happy collecting, Boomer.

04/28/15 We haven't forgotten to post! :-) As always, we're checking the park and receiving welcome reports from ParkPennies visitors... Still, Boomer has no idea why so there are so many people at the Disneyland Resort lately.... after all, there aren't any new 60th Anniversary penny press machines yet. :-) But, we think this next month Disneyland might just have dozens of new pressed coins! So, stay tuned. Happy Collecting, Boomer.

4/13/15 New Pressed Pennies! 2015 pressed nickel set at Disneyland! We've updated the ParkPennies Penny Machine Locations page already. The Disneyland pressed penny guide is partially updated and will have coin pictures and descriptions added soon, if they are not there already. :-) Happy Collecting! Boomer.

4/12/15 New machine reported! I'll post as soon as confirmed.

60th Anniversary pressed penny backstamp. Click to view video4/11/15 Wow! Everything seems to happen just after I leave town! :-) ParkPennies was last updated late 4/8. Over that short time, a Disneyland Elongated Coin Die, the Framed Villains elongated coin die, went up for auction on eBay! Talk about a scarce Disneyland coin press machine treasure! Plus, Aprille C., Ricky K., Dan B., Tom V., and Sarah, all contacted ParkPennies to share news of an excellent, short Disney produced video about the upcoming Disneyland 60th Diamond Celebration pressed penny set! We will have more on this new, possibly best ever, elongated coin collection as the 60th Anniversary Celebration nears. Thanks to all who have emailed me about these news items. I'm sorry for the delay in posting. Happy collecting, Boomer.
Extra! New elongated coin set is rumored for Disneyland soon. [Originally posted Saturday at 7:00pm. Updated Saturday late.]

4/2/15 [edited by Boomer 4/2/15 pm] Our thanks to the good folks at www.PressCoins.com for an excellent report about the New 12 coin penny press at WDW! PressCoins confirms in their latest post that although this new WDW penny press machine does not permit guests to press their own coins, it accepts payment via credit cards, paper money and offers 12 (twelve!) different coin image selections! Wow!
Will such a machine be placed in Disneyland? ParkPennies would like to acknowledge comments already voiced [loudly] to us about that possibility. :-) Of course, most everyone associated with elongated coins knows that most people prefer a "shiny" pressed penny. Also, advanced elongated coin collectors often demand uncirculated pre-1982 solid copper cents over copper plated zinc cents be pressed for their collections. Nickels, dimes, quarters and tokens are also of great interest to collectors, unlike the poor post-1982 zinc cent. So, ParkPennies understands why visitors would strongly prefer any Disneyland machine of this type avoid the use of dirty, circulated, copper plated zinc cents. (Note: As readers are aware, Disney coin press machines in countries where coins cannot be pressed because of laws or the lack of suitable coins, e.g. Japan, Hong Kong, maybe the USA in the future, use clean, solid copper planchets to make very nice Disney collectibles.)
What are your thoughts? ParkPennies looks forward to hearing from you. Do you like this new machine better than the current, three-choice electric or four-choice hand-crank machines that press the pennies you supply, but, offer only three or four choices and require $.50 in quarters for payment? How do you feel about the new machine's $1.00 price for a single pressed penny or $10.00 for the set of 12 pressed pennies, given the machine's innovative design and convenient credit card payment options? If you've used this machine already... Were your coins fully pressed? Has the machine been as "dependable" as the other machines currently at WDW / Disneyland? Please do share your thoughts by emailing Boomer. We hope to post an overview of ParkPennies visitor thoughts here in a few days. Happy collecting, Boomer and the folks at ParkPennies.

60th Diamond Celebration pressed penny book3/26/15 Anna G. just shared a picture of the upcoming 60th Diamond Celebration pressed penny book! Thank you Anna! Rumor is that 60th merchandise, like this cool penny book, will be available for purchase in May at the Disneyland Resort.

3/22/15 Our thanks to Jason N. who recently reported his discovery of a coin previously unlisted in the onstage Hong Kong Disneyland Magical Coin Guide. Before Jason's report, the coin had been believed to be a prototype. But, Jason reported that the coin was part of a recently acquired collection... suggesting the coin may have been onstage. Ultimately, Jimmy in Hong Kong confirmed the coin as part of his onstage collection and pressed at HKDL! Because the date of the coin's issue is approximate, the coin has been given a provisional onstage listing of HKDL1325 in the ParkPennies HKDL Guide. Happy collecting, Boomer.

3/22/15 Our thanks to Ricky K. for spotting yet another new Disneyland Arcade Token at DCA's Frozen Fun.

3/16/15 [Edits and updates 3/17] Several readers have asked (some repeatedly :-) "What have you heard about Disneyland 60th Anniversary pressed pennies?" "Will history repeat itself?" "Will the 60th pressed penny collection be as great as the 50th?"
ParkPennies thinks the 60th pressed penny collection may be even better than the 50th. Many "Advanced Collectors" and casual penny pressing guests have noticed that Disneyland Anaheim is all about innovation and quality. And that "Pressed Pennies" are no exception. When visiting some other theme parks, it is apparent that The Disneyland Resort penny presses have greatly benefited from a dedicated in-park team of Arcade Shop / Electro Mechanical Cast Members. They are The Disneyland Team that imagineared some of the most innovative and best engraved elongated coin collections offered by any Disney Resort to date. As you may know, in 1987, The Disneyland Resort Team was the first to place a Disney penny press onstage anywhere in the world. Later, The Disneyland Resort Team was the first to ever offer a Disney pressed nickel, a Disney pressed quarter, a Disney pressed dime, and recently even a Disney pressed arcade token! That same Disneyland Team's imagination introduced the ongoing Disneyland Resort Seasonal Nickels Collection in 1995, The Nightmare Before Christmas Pressed Quarter Collection in 2001, The amazing 50th Anniversary Collection in 2004, etc... So, will the 60th Diamond Celebration elongated coin collection follow in the tradition? Will the elongated coins include one of the very popular Disneyland exclusive "pressed penny backstamps"? Will the machines continue to be exceptionally maintained; pressing "full roll" coins; with minimum down time like they were for the 50th Anniversary? Based on the proven dedication of these Disneyland Cast Members, reports to ParkPennies, statements made to park guests by Cast Members, and "Anony-Mouse" reports sent to ParkPennies... Yes! There is also an ever growing number of reports that suggest the good folks at The Original Disneyland Park may even be looking to top the incredible Disneyland Resort 50th Anniversary pressed penny set! We hear there will be special 60th backstamps, special themes, and a lot of 60th coin press machines throughout the Disneyland Resort, both inside and outside the gates. As 60th Anniversary penny press news breaks, we will be posting it here, on the newly added 60th Diamond Celebration elongated coin collection page, and of course posting machine locations on the ParkPennies Penny Press Machine Locations Page. So, please visit ParkPennies often and be sure to start saving your copper pennies! :-) Happy collecting! Boomer.

3/15/15 Two new additions to the ParkPennies.com guide to Disneyland Wooden Nickels a "Buena Vista Palace an Official Hotel of Walt Disney World" wooden dollar courtesy of the C. Neal Collection, and a scarce 1971 SPAN Convention Wooden Nickel PNC. Enjoy! Happy collecting, Boomer.

3/5/15 The day is getting closer and closer! We hear that Disneyland's 60th Celebration will have a soft open on May 11, 2015 with the official open on May 20, 2015. Lots of visitors have been looking for news about the 60th pressed penny set. All we have is rumors so far. But, looks like there will be dozens of coins placed inside the parks and in Downtown Disney. As soon as we have something "official" (other than just ParkPennies. :-), we will be posting here. Do let us know what you've seen / heard too... Happy collecting, Boomer.

2/25/15 New Pressed Pennies! What a great day to visit the park! Sunny and mid 70's! But, that's not what made it great. There is a NEW 2015 dated pressed nickel at the The Cove Mini Market at the Tropicana Inn on Harbor Boulevard. We've updated the DW pressed coin guide with a picture of the coin, machine, and marquee. The Penny Machine Locations page will be updated today also. AND we've added scans of the latest Hong Kong Disneyland Tsum Tsum pressed penny set to the 2015 Hong Kong Disneyland Pressed Penny Guide. Happy Collecting! Boomer.

2/24/15 Terror strikes ParkPennies.com! We got the email... As you may know, the very powerful folks at Google have strongly encouraged web sites to become more "mobile device friendly" or be ranked in the Google search accordingly. YIKES! Many people visit ParkPennies for leading edge information. But, as you can see, technologically we're way over our heads already. Some might say that the movie is great, but, the VCR is still blinking 12:00. :-) So, we are doing what we can to learn what "Viewport", "Minify", "render-blocking" etc. mean? And we're especially trying to figure out how to get image content we often can't fit in a screen 800 pixels wide, to fit in a screen for use by small mobile devices with a screen only 320 pixels wide!? Maybe it's time to just take a break, visit the park, and press some pennies? :-)
Of course, we'll be keeping the "Full Web Site" full as always. But, we'll be making some "back stage" changes and adding "mobile friendly pages" over time. (If you're using an iPad, ChromeBook, Galaxy, or iPhone... e.g. most "mobile devices", they should, as always, work fine with the current full ParkPennies site. So, if your mobile device winds up on a mobile page, and you long for the good ol' days and big ol' pages, :-) you'll always have an option button near the top of the page to "Open the Full Site".)
Let us know... Needless to say, your suggestions guide this web site. So, if, when you spot a bug on one of the 800+ pages we'll be "improving" please let us know so we can "unimprove" it. :-)   Keeping the web site useful and easy to find takes help from lots of people. Our thanks go to all visitors and fellow collectors especially if you've had a chance to click the FaceBook like button or add a link to ParkPennies in a blog, forum, or web site. Those web links not only help share the hobby but will greatly help collectors find ParkPennies in future Google listings. Happy collecting, Boomer and the folks at ParkPennies.

2/19/15 Good news from Jim M. He reports that the Castle Gate Gift Shop's penny press machine has returned. A quick check with a person familiar with the location, tells us the machine has not changed coin dies recently. However, its sister penny press machine located in The Cove Mini Market at the Tropicana Hotel, just walking distance north of the Castle Gate Gift Shop on Harbor Boulevard, may have a new coin die in the near future. We've updated the ParkPennies Penny Machine Locations page. Happy Collecting, Boomer.

12/06/14 As long time readers and FaceBook friends know, we rarely post unless there is worthy news... But, given the number of visitors that have emailed us asking about the anticipated 2014 Seasonal Nickels, we thought a "no news" post was worthy. :-) As soon as we hear of a new penny press, we will post here and on facebook. (If you "Like" the Facebook page, you can receive our most significant posts automatically.) Needless to say, Boomer is pacing back and forth and other fellow ParkPennies readers are reporting results of their nickel searches at the park. Hopefully one of us will spot a new Seasonal Nickel machine soon. Happy collecting, Boomer.

As chronicled by the ParkPennies guide to all Haunted Mansion and Nightmare Before Christmas pressed coins, it has been a long time since the quarter press machine was last onstage. We haven't given up all hope; you know we'll be checking for the machine. However, if you spot it first, please contact Boomer.

The coins featuring their new backstamp, will be guide numbers DL0568, DL0569, and DL0570. At the same time this machine arrived, the neighboring machine, the 2013 dated Mickey, Minnie, and Donald penny press set, was taken offstage and assumed to have been retired. 1/22/14 No new machines to report today. But, some machines are offstage. As long time collectors know, often machines that are offstage return with a new set of elongated coins or with new backstamps. You can see our most recent listing of "missing" or "offstage" machines by checking the ParkPennies Penny Press Locations page (PDF) or the ParkPennies Penny Machine Locations (web page). We often update these pages with new machines / locations first so you can view them via your smart phone or other web enabled device while you are at Disneyland, traveling to the Disneyland Resort, or just before you leave the park for home. Before I sign off for today... Thank you very much for your FaceBook Likes (Over 500 already!). Also our thanks for sharing links to ParkPennies.com on your blog and forums. They make our day every time we see one! Happy collecting, Boomer and the folks at ParkPennies.

1/13/14 The Seasonal nickel sets were reported offstage today. We don't have the exact day / time yet. Our guides will be updated to show the nickel sets as retired. No Haunted Mansion or Nightmare Before Christmas quarters have been seen since 2012 and 2011. We will of course post any news that these very popular pressed quarter sets are back onstage here. (Recently, this post was inadvertently and temporarily moved below the 1/04/14 post in error. Our thanks to Tina for letting us know.)

01/04/14 We just got a most welcome anony-mouse report with scans of a new Cast Member pressed token and quarter recently gifted to members of the Electro Mechanical Tech kraft at Disneyland! Boomer is working on the update to the Cast Member Elongated Coins Guide.
