The Nightmare Before Christmas pressed penny set, TDL0701 - TDL0706 below is a good example of neat new 2007 offerings. Some coins this year were very hard to get, the TDL0710 Type 1 variation was placed on stage and then quickly replaced. Rumors are that the die didn't have a hard enough temper and the image sunk into the die as a result. Matter of fact, if not for the generosity of a very nice collector in Japan, we would not had a coin to scan. Yes, this fun hobby has made this old guy really believe that people around the world have a lot in common and many of them are very nice people. Except maybe for Boomer when a penny press machine jams. sad

But, I'm digressing again... Bottom line, lots of great themed sets at The Tokyo Disneyland Resort. Some are super easy to collect, others a bit harder. But, all are fun and make for a great family hobby. Enjoy.

Editor's note: We are often reminded that the preferred numismatic term for these Tokyo Disneyland souvenirs is "Medals" or "Medallions". However, many avid collectors are known to use the words pressed pennies, as well as elongated coins, pressed nickels, flattened pennies, crushed pennies, squashed pennies, rolled pennies mashed pennies, smashed pennies, stamped pennies, squished pennies, smushed pennies, stretched pennies, memory pennies keepsake pennies or pressed coins when describing these fun "pressed penny" souvenirs.
