To open the third page or section of the TDL Tokyo Disneyland Park Guide. I chose one of the first coins ever on-stage at the park. It's Donald "Penny Arcade" and as you can see, the engraving and detail are very nice.

To the best of our knowledge, 1996 brought only three different coins and they were from the only Tokyo Disney park. By 2004, Tokyo DisneySea, a "second gate" was also offering souvenir medals and as you can see while browsing the guides, the numbers of coins have skyrocketed.

In about 1998, we started to notice interest in these coins was growing in the US. In 2002 or so, we noticed an increasing number of visitors to our previous web site from Japan. Today, we owe a lot to fellow collectors here in the US and especially in Japan that have contributed to this guide over the years. Not to mention, pressing coins for us to display for you here.

Editor's note: We are often reminded that the preferred numismatic term for these Tokyo Disneyland souvenirs is "Medals". However, many avid collectors are known to use the words pressed pennies, as well as elongated coins, nickels, flattened, crushed, squashed, rolled, mashed, smashed, stamped, squished, smushed, stretched, memory, keepsake or pressed coins when describing these fun "pressed penny" souvenirs.
