The Disneyland Resort Area Hotels and Downtown Disney Guide has coins similar to those inside the gates of Disneyland or Disney's California Adventure. However, they are very different in the way they may be collected. Unlike most other coins in the Disneyland Resort Elongated Coin Collection, these coins can be pressed without paying for admission. Matter of fact, they can be pressed without even paying for parking if you know where to park. Yes, collecting pressed pennies, even Disney pressed pennies, can be a fun, and inexpensive hobby!

The DR Guide has coins that are a major part of the complete Disneyland Resort collection. Like most larger Disneyland Resort guides, the DR Guide covers more than a single page and is divided into "Vintage" pressed pennies or elongated coins, first on-stage during Disneyland's first 50 years and Post 50th Anniversary coins.

Although we are often reminded that the "preferred" numismatic term is "Elongated Coins", we often use that term interchangeably with the more casual terms, fun terms like: pressed, flattened, crushed, squashed, rolled, mashed, smashed, stamped, squished, smushed, stretched, memory, keepsake, and souvenir to describe these fun penny (cent) souvenirs.
