dl0251b.jpg - 17754 BytesOk, so there are only a few Disneyland "CM" or Cast Member stampbacks. Maybe we'll see more in the future.

These Elongated coin reverses or "pressed penny" stampbacks were available only to Cast Members and their personal guests or park guests that paid a special, separate admission. Other Disneyland stampbacks are listed in other respective guides linked above. See also "The Disneyland Cast Member, CM, Elongated Coin Guide", "Disneyland Canceled Elongated Coins" and "Disneyland Elongated Coin Test Rolls" for additional details about coins in this "CM-R" Guide.

For an easy visual of how the guide sections make one complete Disneyland Elongated Coin Collection, ParkPennies.com offers a graphical overview of the Complete Disneyland Resorts Guide to Pressed Pennies and Elongated Coins.

Although the numismatic term is "Reverses", we use that term interchangeably with the more casual term, " Reverse".

Happy Collecting,

Eddie Garcia retirement coinCM0026 Horizontal elongated token stampback image. 2008 DISNEYLAND ® RESORT, FACILLITES & OPERATIONS SERVICES, CAST APPRECIATION BAR-B-QUE.

Reports by trusted sources to Robert Hoff, state that 300 unpressed "No Cash Value" arcade tokens were distributed to about 150 attendees with the option to press the tokens in the available machine at the 5/15/08 Cast Member appreciation Bar-B-Que.
The die, cut by Eurolink, misses the fine detail of hand engraved dies which makes identification of the small type face and copyright difficult. Die life planned over more than a single year, to be used with new reverse each year.
This is the first formal use of a "token press" at the Disneyland Resort. The token provides a heavy, quality souvenir in a world of zinc, possibly soon to be copper-plated steel pennies, a welcome innovation in this collector's opinion. Only one coin was offered by this machine.

NOTE: You may have noticed that because reverse "dies" and coin dies are different in many ways, they are treated differently here at ParkPennies. Guides confirm that unlike coin dies, reverse “dies” often share a single design / artwork "type" pressed onto the reverse of many different elongated coins. When these reverse "dies" are compared to others of the same design "type", often there are slight differences as each is etched or engraved individually. To mix things up even more, it is possible for a set of three nearly identical reverse "dies" engraved on a back shaft and paired with particular coin dies, to be accidentally or intentionally rotated when the penny press mechanism is serviced or repaired. And even more permutations are introduced if a replacement back shaft is installed with facsimiles of the original reverse engravings. Lastly, reverse engravings are also prone to change in appearance over time as they wear, "sink" etc., which can add variations to the same back stamp engravings over time. As you can see, these reverse characteristics could make for a lot of “different” stampbacks of the same design "type". Therefore, our guide attributions give small design variations or changes less weight when observed in reverse "dies" vs. obverse coin dies. A good example would be the many 50th Anniversary stampbacks. There are as many individual reverse "dies" or engravings as there are coins in the 50th set, each with slight variances in placement, depth, and texture. Yet all share the same artwork / design, i.e. without intentional differences in design, and are considered one “generic type” for the purposes of listing in this guide.
